[Jesus said,] "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,'
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the
will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day,
'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive
out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'
Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart
from me, you evildoers.'" [Taken from MT 7:21-23]
Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. His
disciples approached him and said, "Explain to us the parable
of the weeds in the field." He said in reply, "He who
sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good
seed the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the children of
the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The
harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Just
as weeds are collected and burned (up) with fire, so will it be at
the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they
will collect out of his kingdom all who cause others to sin and
all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where
there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous
will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever
has ears ought to hear." [MT 13:36-43]
Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out
and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the
fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
[MT 13:49-50]
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct.
[MT 16:27]
As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples
approached him privately and said, "Tell us, when will this
happen, and what sign will there be of your coming, and of the end
of the age?" Jesus said to them in reply, "See that no
one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the
Messiah,' and they will deceive many. You will hear of wars and
reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things
must happen, but it will not yet be the end. Nation will rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines
and earthquakes from place to place. All these are the beginning
of the labor pains. Then they will hand you over to persecution,
and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because
of my name. And then many will be led into sin; they will betray
and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and deceive
many; and because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many
will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be
saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout
the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come."
[MT 24:3-14]
"If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or,
'There he is!' do not believe it. False messiahs and false
prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so
great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.
Behold, I have told it to you beforehand. So if they say to you,
'He is in the desert,' do not go out there; if they say, 'He is in
the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For just as lightning comes
from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming
of the Son of Man be." [MT 24:23-27]
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the
sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its
light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the
powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son
of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will
mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of
heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels
with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four
winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." [MT 24:29-31]
"Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes
tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the
same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at
the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away
until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will
pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day
and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son,
but the Father alone. For as it was in the days of Noah, so it
will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In (those) days before
the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not
know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be
(also) at the coming of the Son of Man [that is, some
will be taken to the kingdom, the others will be left to perish]. Two men will be out in the
field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be
grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord
will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known
the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed
awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must
be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will
come." [Taken from MT 24:32-44] [Note: Explanatory text has been provided in brackets.
Despite current notions to the contrary among some anti-Catholic
sects, Jesus has only promised a Second Coming. Therefore, those
not taken must be left to perish.]
"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the
master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them
their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his
master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will
put him in charge of all his property. But if that wicked servant
says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,' and begins to beat
his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, the
servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown
hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the
hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."
[MT 24:45-51]
"Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who
took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them
were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking
their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks
of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long delayed,
they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a
cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' Then all
those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones
said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are
going out.' But the wise ones replied, 'No, for there may not be
enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some
for yourselves.' While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom
came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with
him. Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came
and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!' But he said in
reply, 'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.' Therefore, stay
awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour." [MT 25:1-13]
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the
angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the
nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them
one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the
goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his
left. Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who
are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me
food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you
welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me,
in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him
and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and
welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or
in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply,
'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least
brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on
his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire
prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you
gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a
stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no
clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.' Then
they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not
minister to your needs?' He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do
for me.' And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the
righteous to eternal life." [MT 25:31-46]
As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple
area, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,
"Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be
when all these things are about to come to an end?" Jesus
began to say to them, "See that no one deceives you. Many
will come in my name saying, 'I am he,' and they will deceive
many. When you hear of wars and reports of wars do not be alarmed;
such things must happen, but it will not yet be the end. Nation
will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will
be earthquakes from place to place and there will be famines.
These are the beginnings of the labor pains." [MK 13:3-8]
"When you see the desolating abomination standing where he
should not (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must
flee to the mountains, (and) a person on a housetop must not go
down or enter to get anything out of his house, and a person in a
field must not return to get his cloak. Woe to pregnant women and
nursing mothers in those days. Pray that this does not happen in
winter. For those times will have tribulation such as has not been
since the beginning of God's creation until now, nor ever will be.
If the Lord had not shortened those days, no one would be saved;
but for the sake of the elect whom he chose, he did shorten the
days. If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah!
Look, there he is!' do not believe it. False messiahs and false
prophets will arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to
mislead, if that were possible, the elect. Be watchful! I have
told it all to you beforehand. But in those days after that
tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will
not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the
sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then
they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great
power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather
(his) elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the
end of the sky." [MK 13:14-27]
"Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes
tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the
same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is
near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not
pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and
earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But
of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven,
nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do
not know when the time will come. It is like a man traveling
abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each
with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is
coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or
in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'" [MK 13:28-37]
Then he said to all, "If anyone wishes to come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever
loses his life for my sake will save it. What profit is there for
one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself? Whoever
is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed
of when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and
of the holy angels." [LK 9:23-26]
"Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants
who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open
immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you,
he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to
wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and
find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants. Be
sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when
the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken
into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect,
the Son of Man will come." Then Peter said, "Lord, is
this parable meant for us or for everyone?" And the Lord
replied, "Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom
the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute (the)
food allowance at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom
his master on arrival finds doing so. Truly, I say to you, he will
put him in charge of all his property. But if that servant says to
himself, 'My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the
menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk,
then that servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at
an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a
place with the unfaithful. That servant who knew his master's will
but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
shall be beaten severely; and the servant who was ignorant of his
master's will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person
entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person
entrusted with more." [LK 12:35-48]
Then he said to his disciples, "The days will come when
you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you
will not see it. There will be those who will say to you, 'Look,
there he is,' (or) 'Look, here he is.' Do not go off, do not run
in pursuit. For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky
from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be (in his
day). But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this
generation. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the
days of the Son of Man; they were eating and drinking, marrying
and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark,
and the flood came and destroyed them all. Similarly, as it was in
the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling,
planting, building; on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and
brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be
on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, a person who
is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not
go down to get them, and likewise a person in the field must not
return to what was left behind. Remember the wife of Lot. Whoever
seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will
save it. I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one
bed; one will be taken, the other left [that is, to perish]. And there will be two
women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left
[to perish]." They said to him in reply, "Where, Lord?" He
said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures
will gather." [Taken from LK 17:22-37] [Note:
Explanatory text has been provided in brackets. Despite current
notions to the contrary among some anti-Catholic sects, Jesus has
only promised a Second Coming. Therefore, those not taken must be
left to perish.]
Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? And
what sign will there be when all these things are about to
happen?" He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for
many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time has
come.' Do not follow them! When you hear of wars and
insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen
first, but it will not immediately be the end." Then he said
to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and
plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs
will come from the sky. Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the
synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings
and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving
testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense
beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that
all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You
will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and
friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated
by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be
destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives." [LK
21:7-19]
"When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that
its desolation is at hand. Then those in Judea must flee to the
mountains. Let those within the city escape from it, and let those
in the countryside not enter the city, for these days are the time
of punishment when all the scriptures are fulfilled. Woe to
pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for a terrible
calamity will come upon the earth and a wrathful judgment upon
this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken
as captives to all the Gentiles; and Jerusalem will be trampled
underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are
fulfilled. There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the
stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the
roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in
anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of
the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs
begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your
redemption is at hand." [LK 21:20-28]
"Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from
carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and
that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will
assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant
at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the
tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of
Man." [LK 21:34-36]
"Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something
to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the
last day, because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who
sent me commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his
commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father
told me." [JN 12:48-50]
"God has overlooked the times of ignorance, but now he demands
that all people everywhere repent because he has established a day
on which he will 'judge the world with justice' through a man he
has appointed, and he has provided confirmation for all by raising
him from the dead." [ACTS 17:30-31]
By your stubbornness and impenitent heart, you are storing up
wrath for yourself for the day of wrath and revelation of the just
judgment of God, who will repay everyone according to his works:
eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality
through perseverance in good works, but wrath and fury to those
who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness. Yes,
affliction and distress will come upon every human being who does
evil, Jew first and then Greek. But there will be glory, honor,
and peace for everyone who does good, Jew first and then Greek.
There is no partiality with God. [ROM 2:5-11]
They show that the demands of the law are written in their
hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their
conflicting thoughts accuse or even defend them on the day when,
according to my gospel, God will judge people's hidden works
through Christ Jesus. [ROM 2:15-16]
I give thanks to my God always on your account for the grace of
God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched
in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the
testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not
lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of
our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you firm to the end,
irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus (Christ). God is
faithful, and by him you were called to fellowship with his Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord. [1COR 1:4-9]
Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all fall asleep, but
we will all be changed, in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at
the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [1COR 15:51-52]
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a
savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to
conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also
to bring all things into subjection to himself. [PHIL 3:20-21]
If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where
Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above,
not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is
hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you
too will appear with him in glory. [COL 3:1-4]
We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who
have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who
have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too
will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen
asleep. Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we
who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will
surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord
himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel
and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the
dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are
left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet
the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Therefore, console one another with these words. [1THES 4:13-18]
Concerning times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for
anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know very well
that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When
people are saying, "Peace and security," then sudden
disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman,
and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness,
for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are
children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the
night or of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do,
but let us stay alert and sober. [1THES 5:1-6]
We ask you, brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ and our assembling with him, not to be shaken out of
your minds suddenly, or to be alarmed either by a
"spirit," or by an oral statement, or by a letter
allegedly from us to the effect that the day of the Lord is at
hand. Let no one deceive you in any way. For unless the apostasy
comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one doomed to
perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called
god and object of worship, so as to seat himself in the temple of
God, claiming that he is a god - do you not recall that while I
was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what
is restraining, that he may be revealed in his time. For the
mystery of lawlessness is already at work. But the one who
restrains is to do so only for the present, until he is removed
from the scene. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom
the Lord (Jesus) will kill with the breath of his mouth and render
powerless by the manifestation of his coming, the one whose coming
springs from the power of Satan in every mighty deed and in signs
and wonders that lie, and in every wicked deceit for those who are
perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth so that
they may be saved. [2THES 2:1-10]
I charge (you) before God, who gives life to all things, and
before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for
the noble confession, to keep the commandment without stain or
reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ that the
blessed and only ruler will make manifest at the proper time, the
King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who
dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen
or can see. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen. [1TM 6:13-16]
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who
will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his
kingly power: proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is
convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through
all patience and teaching. For the time will come when people will
not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and
insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop
listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths. But you, be
self-possessed in all circumstances; put up with hardship; perform
the work of an evangelist; fulfill your ministry. [2TM 4:1-5]
Just as it is appointed that human beings die once, and after
this the judgment, so also Christ, offered once to take away the
sins of many, will appear a second time, not to take away sin but
to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him. [HEB 9:27-28]
We should not stay away from our assembly, as is the custom of
some, but encourage one another, and this all the more as you see
the day drawing near. If we sin deliberately after receiving
knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins
but a fearful prospect of judgment and a flaming fire that is
going to consume the adversaries. Anyone who rejects the law of
Moses is put to death without pity on the testimony of two or
three witnesses. Do you not think that a much worse punishment is
due the one who has contempt for the Son of God, considers unclean
the covenant-blood by which he was consecrated, and insults the
spirit of grace? We know the one who said: "Vengeance is
mine; I will repay," and again: "The Lord will judge his
people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the
living God. Remember the days past when, after you had been
enlightened, you endured a great contest of suffering. At times
you were publicly exposed to abuse and affliction; at other times
you associated yourselves with those so treated. You even joined
in the sufferings of those in prison and joyfully accepted the
confiscation of your property, knowing that you had a better and
lasting possession. Therefore, do not throw away your confidence;
it will have great recompense. You need endurance to do the will
of God and receive what he has promised. "For, after just a
brief moment, he who is to come shall come; he shall not delay.
But my just one shall live by faith, and if he draws back I take
no pleasure in him." We are not among those who draw back and
perish, but among those who have faith and will possess life. [HEB
10:25-39]
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in
his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that
is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you
who by the power of God are safeguarded through faith, to a
salvation that is ready to be revealed in the final time. In this
you rejoice, although now for a little while you may have to
suffer through various trials, so that the genuineness of your
faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though
tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at
the revelation of Jesus Christ. [1PT 1:3-7]
This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you;
through them by way of reminder I am trying to stir up your
sincere disposition, to recall the words previously spoken by the
holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and savior through
your apostles. Know this first of all, that in the last days
scoffers will come (to) scoff, living according to their own
desires and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? From
the time when our ancestors fell asleep, everything has remained
as it was from the beginning of creation." They deliberately
ignore the fact that the heavens existed of old and earth was
formed out of water and through water by the word of God; through
these the world that then existed was destroyed, deluged with
water. The present heavens and earth have been reserved by the
same word for fire, kept for the day of judgment and of
destruction of the godless. But do not ignore this one fact,
beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a
thousand years like one day. The Lord does not delay his promise,
as some regard "delay," but he is patient with you, not
wishing that any should perish but that all should come to
repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and
then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and the
elements will be dissolved by fire, and the earth and everything
done on it will be found out. Since everything is to be dissolved
in this way, what sort of persons ought (you) to be, conducting
yourselves in holiness and devotion, waiting for and hastening the
coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be
dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire. But according
to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth in which
righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you await these
things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him,
at peace. And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as
our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him,
also wrote to you, speaking of these things as he does in all his
letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the
ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as
they do the other scriptures. [2PT 3:1-16]
Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even
those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will lament him. Yes.
Amen. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God,
"the one who is and who was and who is to come, the
almighty." [REV 1:7-8]
Be watchful and strengthen what is left, which is going to die,
for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.
Remember then how you accepted and heard; keep it, and repent. If
you are not watchful, I will come like a thief, and you will never
know at what hour I will come upon you. [RV 3:2-3]
Then I saw another angel flying high overhead, with everlasting
good news to announce to those who dwell on earth, to every
nation, tribe, tongue, and people. He said in a loud voice,
"Fear God and give him glory, for his time has come to sit in
judgment. Worship him who made heaven and earth and sea and
springs of water." [RV 14:6-7]
"Behold, I am coming like a thief." Blessed is the
one who watches and keeps his clothes ready, so that he may not go
naked and people see him exposed. [Taken from RV 16:15]
Next I saw a large white throne and the one who was sitting on
it. The earth and the sky fled from his presence and there was no
place for them. I saw the dead, the great and the lowly, standing
before the throne, and scrolls were opened. Then another scroll
was opened, the book of life. The dead were judged according to
their deeds, by what was written in the scrolls. The sea gave up
its dead; then Death and Hades gave up their dead. All the dead
were judged according to their deeds. Then Death and Hades were
thrown into the pool of fire. (This pool of fire is the second
death.) Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of
life was thrown into the pool of fire. [RV 20:11-15]
"Behold, I am coming soon. I bring with me the recompense I will give to each according to his deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the
end." [RV 22:12-13]
The one who gives this testimony says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
[RV 22:20]
