Save us by your power, and help me, who am alone and have no one but you, O
Lord. "You know all things. You know that I hate the glory of the pagans, and abhor the bed of the uncircumcised or of any foreigner.
You know that I am under constraint, that I abhor the sign of grandeur which rests on my head when I appear in public; abhor it like a polluted rag, and do not wear it in private.
I, your handmaid, have never eaten at the table of Haman, nor have I graced the banquet of the king or drunk the wine of libations.
From the day I was brought here till now, your handmaid has had no joy except in you, O Lord, God of Abraham.
O God, more powerful than all, hear the voice of those in despair. Save us from the power of the wicked, and deliver me from my fear."
[ESTH C:25-30]
Grace and favor you granted me, and your
providence has preserved my spirit. [JOB 10:12]
You are the most handsome of men; fair speech
has graced your lips, for God has blessed you forever. [PS 45:3]
For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory.
The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach.
O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you! [PS
84:12-13]
Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and reject not your mother's teaching;
A graceful diadem will they be for your head; a torque for your neck.
[PROV 1:8-9]
"The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom; at the cost of all you have, get understanding.
Extol her, and she will exalt you; she will bring you honors if you embrace her;
She will put on your head a graceful diadem; a glorious crown will she bestow on you."
[PROV 4:7-9]
And have joy of the wife of your youth, your
lovely hind, your graceful doe. Her love will invigorate you
always, through her love you will flourish continually, When you
lie down she will watch over you, and when you wake, she will
share your concerns; wherever you turn, she will guide you. Why
then, my son, should you go astray for another's wife and accept
the embraces of an adulteress? For each man's ways are plain to
the LORD'S sight; all their paths he surveys; By his own
iniquities the wicked man will be caught, in the meshes of his own
sin he will be held fast; He will die from lack of discipline,
through the greatness of his folly he will be lost. [PROV 5:18-23]
They shall judge nations and rule over peoples,
and the LORD shall be their King forever. Those who trust in him
shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in
love: Because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care
is with the elect. But the wicked shall receive a punishment to
match their thoughts, since they neglected justice and forsook the
LORD. For he who despises wisdom and instruction is doomed. Vain
is their hope, fruitless are their labors, and worthless are their
works. [WISDOM 3:8-11]
I spread out
my branches like a terebinth, my branches so bright and so
graceful. I bud forth delights like the vine, my blossoms become
fruit fair and rich. Come to me, all you that yearn for me, and be
filled with my fruits; You will remember me as sweeter than honey,
better to have than the honeycomb. [SIRACH 24:16-19]
Like the sun rising in the LORD'S heavens, the beauty of a virtuous wife is the radiance of her home.
Like the light which shines above the holy lampstand, are her beauty of face and graceful figure. [SIRACH 26:16-17]
Who is there like you, the God who removes guilt
and pardons sin for the remnant of his inheritance; Who does not
persist in anger forever, but delights rather in clemency, And
will again have compassion on us, treading underfoot our guilt?
You will cast into the depths of the sea all our sins; You will
show faithfulness to Jacob, and grace to Abraham, As you have
sworn to our fathers from days of old. [MICAH 7:18-20]
I will pour out on the house of David and on the
inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and petition; and they
shall look on him whom they have thrust through, and they shall
mourn for him as one mourns for an only son, and they shall grieve
over him as one grieves over a first-born. [ZECH 12:10]
And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling
among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only
Son, full of grace and truth. John testified to him and cried out,
saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'The one who is coming
after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'"
From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace,
because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth
came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son,
God, who is at the Father's side, has revealed him. [JN 1:14-18]
Now Stephen, filled with grace and power, was
working great wonders and signs among the people. Certain members
of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen, Cyrenians, and
Alexandrians, and people from Cilicia and Asia, came forward and
debated with Stephen, but they could not withstand the wisdom and
the spirit with which he spoke. Then they instigated some men to
say, "We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against
Moses and God." They stirred up the people, the elders, and
the scribes, accosted him, seized him, and brought him before the
Sanhedrin. They presented false witnesses who testified,
"This man never stops saying things against (this) holy place
and the law. For we have heard him claim that this Jesus the
Nazorean will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses
handed down to us." All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked
intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an
angel. [ACTS 6:8-15]
The hand of the Lord was with them and a great
number who believed turned to the Lord. The news about them
reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent
Barnabas (to go) to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the grace of
God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the
Lord in firmness of heart, for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit
and faith. And a large number of people was added to the Lord.
[ACTS 11:21-24]
After the congregation had dispersed, many Jews
and worshipers who were converts to Judaism followed Paul and
Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to remain faithful to
the grace of God. [ACTS 13:43]
In Iconium they entered the Jewish synagogue
together and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews
and Greeks came to believe, although the disbelieving Jews stirred
up and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against the brothers. So
they stayed for a considerable period, speaking out boldly for the
Lord, who confirmed the word about his grace by granting signs and
wonders to occur through their hands. [ACTS 14:1-3]
After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia.
From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished.
[ACTS 14:25-26]
The apostles and the presbyters met together to
see about this matter. After much debate had taken place, Peter
got up and said to them, "My brothers, you are well aware
that from early days God made his choice among you that through my
mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe.
And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit
just as he did us. He made no distinction between us and them, for
by faith he purified their hearts. Why, then, are you now putting
God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a
yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? On
the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of
the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they." The whole assembly
fell silent, and they listened while Paul and Barnabas described
the signs and wonders God had worked among the Gentiles through
them. [ACTS 15:6-12]
After some time, Paul said to Barnabas,
"Come, let us make a return visit to see how the brothers are
getting on in all the cities where we proclaimed the word of the
Lord." Barnabas wanted to take with them also John, who was
called Mark, but Paul insisted that they should not take with them
someone who had deserted them at Pamphylia and who had not
continued with them in their work. So sharp was their disagreement
that they separated. Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus. But
Paul chose Silas and departed after being commended by the
brothers to the grace of the Lord. He traveled through Syria and
Cilicia bringing strength to the churches. [ACTS 15:36-41]
A Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, an
eloquent speaker, arrived in Ephesus. He was an authority on the
scriptures. He had been instructed in the Way of the Lord and,
with ardent spirit, spoke and taught accurately about Jesus,
although he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak
boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him,
they took him aside and explained to him the Way (of God) more
accurately. And when he wanted to cross to Achaia, the brothers
encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him.
After his arrival he gave great assistance to those who had come
to believe through grace. He vigorously refuted the Jews in
public, establishing from the scriptures that the Messiah is
Jesus. [ACTS 18:24-28]
But now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to
Jerusalem. What will happen to me there I do not know, except that
in one city after another the Holy Spirit has been warning me that
imprisonment and hardships await me. Yet I consider life of no
importance to me, if only I may finish my course and the ministry
that I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear witness to the gospel
of God's grace. [ACTS 20:22-24]
Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an
apostle and set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised
previously through his prophets in the holy scriptures, the gospel
about his Son, descended from David according to the flesh, but
established as Son of God in power according to the spirit of
holiness through resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our
Lord. Through him we have received the grace of apostleship, to
bring about the obedience of faith, for the sake of his name,
among all the Gentiles, among whom are you also, who are called to
belong to Jesus Christ; to all the beloved of God in Rome, called
to be holy. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ. [ROM 1:1-7]
But now the righteousness of God has been
manifested apart from the law, though testified to by the law and
the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus
Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; all have
sinned and are deprived of the glory of God. They are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus, whom
God set forth as an expiation, through faith, by his blood, to
prove his righteousness because of the forgiveness of sins
previously committed, through the forbearance of God - to prove
his righteousness in the present time, that he might be righteous
and justify the one who has faith in Jesus. [ROM 3:21-26]
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access (by faith) to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
[ROM 5:1-2]
But the gift is not like the transgression. For
if by that one person's transgression the many died, how much more
did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one person Jesus
Christ overflow for the many. And the gift is not like the result
of the one person's sinning. For after one sin there was the
judgment that brought condemnation; but the gift, after many
transgressions, brought acquittal. For if, by the transgression of
one person, death came to reign through that one, how much more
will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of
justification come to reign in life through the one person Jesus
Christ. In conclusion, just as through one transgression
condemnation came upon all, so through one righteous act acquittal
and life came to all. For just as through the disobedience of one
person the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one
the many will be made righteous. The law entered in so that
transgression might increase but, where sin increased, grace
overflowed all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace
also might reign through justification for eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord. [ROM 5:15-21]
What then shall we say? Shall we persist in sin that grace may abound? Of course not!
How can we who died to sin yet live in it? [ROM 6:1-2]
Therefore, sin must not reign over your mortal
bodies so that you obey their desires. And do not present the
parts of your bodies to sin as weapons for wickedness, but present
yourselves to God as raised from the dead to life and the parts of
your bodies to God as weapons for righteousness. For sin is not to
have any power over you, since you are not under the law but under
grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law
but under grace? Of course not! Do you not know that if you
present yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves
of the one you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of
obedience, which leads to righteousness? [ROM 6:12-16]
God has not rejected his people whom he
foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says about Elijah,
how he pleads with God against Israel? "Lord, they have
killed your prophets, they have torn down your altars, and I alone
am left, and they are seeking my life." But what is God's
response to him? "I have left for myself seven thousand men
who have not knelt to Baal." So also at the present time
there is a remnant, chosen by grace. But if by grace, it is no
longer because of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
What then? What Israel was seeking it did not attain, but the
elect attained it; the rest were hardened, as it is written:
"God gave them a spirit of deep sleep, eyes that should not
see and ears that should not hear, down to this very day."
And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a
stumbling block and a retribution for them; let their eyes grow
dim so that they may not see, and keep their backs bent
forever." [ROM 11:2-10]
I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies
of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and
pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves
to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that
you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing
and perfect. For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among
you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think,
but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that
God has apportioned. For as in one body we have many parts, and
all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many,
are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another.
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to
us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;
if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if
one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if
one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy,
with cheerfulness. [ROM 12:1-8]
I myself am convinced about you, my brothers,
that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all
knowledge, and able to admonish one another. But I have written to
you rather boldly in some respects to remind you, because of the
grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the
Gentiles in performing the priestly service of the gospel of God,
so that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable,
sanctified by the Holy Spirit. [ROM 15:14-16]
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who
create dissensions and obstacles, in opposition to the teaching
that you learned; avoid them. For such people do not serve our
Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering
speech they deceive the hearts of the innocent. For while your
obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, I want you
to be wise as to what is good, and simple as to what is evil; then
the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The
grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. [ROM 16:17-20]
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God always on your
account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that
in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all
knowledge, as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so
that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the
revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. [1COR 1:3-7]
For we are God's co-workers; you are God's
field, God's building. According to the grace of God given to me,
like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is
building upon it. But each one must be careful how he builds upon
it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is
there, namely, Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation
with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, the work
of each will come to light, for the Day will disclose it. It will
be revealed with fire, and the fire (itself) will test the quality
of each one's work. If the work stands that someone built upon the
foundation, that person will receive a wage. But if someone's work
is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved,
but only as through fire. Do you not know that you are the temple
of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone
destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for the
temple of God, which you are, is holy. [1COR 3:9-17]
For I am the least of the apostles, not fit to
be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But
by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not
been ineffective. Indeed, I have toiled harder than all of them;
not I, however, but the grace of God (that is) with me. [1COR
15:9-10]
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. [1COR
16:23]
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth, with all the holy ones throughout Achaia:
grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. [2COR 1:1-2]
For our boast is this, the testimony of our
conscience that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and
especially toward you, with the simplicity and sincerity of God,
(and) not by human wisdom but by the grace of God. [2COR 1:12]
Since, then, we have the same spirit of faith,
according to what is written, "I believed, therefore I
spoke," we too believe and therefore speak, knowing that the
one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and
place us with you in his presence. Everything indeed is for you,
so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people
may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God.
Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self
is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For
this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal
weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is
seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but
what is unseen is eternal. [2COR 4:13-18]
Working together, then, we appeal to you not to
receive the grace of God in vain. [2COR 6:1]
We want you to know, brothers, of the grace of
God that has been given to the churches of Macedonia, for in a
severe test of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their
profound poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their
part. [2COR 8:1-2]
Moreover, God is able to make every grace
abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you
need, you may have an abundance for every good work. As it is
written: "He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his
righteousness endures forever." The one who supplies seed to
the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed
and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You are being
enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us
produces thanksgiving to God, for the administration of this
public service is not only supplying the needs of the holy ones
but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God.
Through the evidence of this service, you are glorifying God for
your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ and the
generosity of your contribution to them and to all others, while
in prayer on your behalf they long for you, because of the
surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his
indescribable gift! [2COR 9:8-15]
Although if I should wish to boast, I would not
be foolish, for I would be telling the truth. But I refrain, so
that no one may think more of me than what he sees in me or hears
from me because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore,
that I might not become too elated, a thorn in the flesh was given
to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too
elated. Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might
leave me, but he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness." I will rather boast
most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ
may dwell with me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses,
insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of
Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. [2COR 12:6-10]
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love
of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
[2COR 13:13]
Paul, an apostle not from human beings nor
through a human being but through Jesus Christ and God the Father
who raised him from the dead, and all the brothers who are with
me, to the churches of Galatia: grace to you and peace from God
our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our
sins that he might rescue us from the present evil age in accord
with the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and
ever. Amen. [GAL 1:1-5]
I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking
the one who called you by (the) grace (of Christ) for a different
gospel (not that there is another). But there are some who are
disturbing you and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even
if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel
other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be
accursed! As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone
preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let
that one be accursed! Am I now currying favor with human beings or
God? Or am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to
please people, I would not be a slave of Christ. Now I want you to
know, brothers, that the gospel preached by me is not of human
origin. For I did not receive it from a human being, nor was I
taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For
you heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how I persecuted
the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it, and
progressed in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my
race, since I was even more a zealot for my ancestral traditions.
But when (God), who from my mother's womb had set me apart and
called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me,
so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles, I did not
immediately consult flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem
to those who were apostles before me; rather, I went into Arabia
and then returned to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to
Jerusalem to confer with Kephas and remained with him for fifteen
days. But I did not see any other of the apostles, only James the
brother of the Lord. (As to what I am writing to you, behold,
before God, I am not lying.) Then I went into the regions of Syria
and Cilicia. And I was unknown personally to the churches of Judea
that are in Christ; they only kept hearing that "the one who
once was persecuting us is now preaching the faith he once tried
to destroy." So they glorified God because of me. [GAL
1:6-24] [Note: Some ancient languages have no word for cousin
(and other relatives) so the term "brothers" may be used
to refer to relatives other than blood brothers. The use of this
terminology does not mean that Jesus had blood brothers, which of
course he didn't since Mary is an ever virgin. For more
information on this topic, visit the Non-Catholics
section.]
On the contrary, when they saw that I had been
entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter to
the circumcised, for the one who worked in Peter for an apostolate
to the circumcised worked also in me for the Gentiles, and when
they recognized the grace bestowed upon me, James and Kephas and
John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave me and Barnabas their
right hands in partnership, that we should go to the Gentiles and
they to the circumcised. Only, we were to be mindful of the poor,
which is the very thing I was eager to do. [GAL 2:7-10]
For through the law I died to the law, that I
might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live,
no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the
flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and
given himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God; for if
justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
[GAL 2:19-21]
It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you
have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
Once again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that
he is bound to observe the entire law. You are separated from
Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law; you have fallen
from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of
righteousness. For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor
uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through
love. [GAL 5:2-6]
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your
spirit, brothers. Amen. [GAL 6:18]
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ. [Taken from EPH 1:2]
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing
in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of
the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he
destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in
accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of
his grace that he granted us in the beloved. In him we have
redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in
accord with the riches of his grace that he lavished upon us. In
all wisdom and insight, he has made known to us the mystery of his
will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him as a plan
for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in
heaven and on earth. [EPH 1:3-10]
You were dead in your transgressions and sins in
which you once lived following the age of this world, following
the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work
in the disobedient. All of us once lived among them in the desires
of our flesh, following the wishes of the flesh and the impulses,
and we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest. But God,
who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions, brought us to life
with Christ (by grace you have been saved), raised us up with him,
and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, that in the
ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in
his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been
saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of
God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his
handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has
prepared in advance, that we should live in them. [EPH 2:1-10]
Because of this, I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ
(Jesus) for you Gentiles - if, as I suppose, you have heard of the
stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for your benefit,
(namely, that) the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as
I have written briefly earlier. When you read this you can
understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not
made known to human beings in other generations as it has now been
revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit, that the
Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in
the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Of this I became a
minister by the gift of God's grace that was granted me in accord
with the exercise of his power. To me, the very least of all the
holy ones, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the
inscrutable riches of Christ, and to bring to light (for all) what
is the plan of the mystery hidden from ages past in God who
created all things, so that the manifold wisdom of God might now
be made known through the church to the principalities and
authorities in the heavens. This was according to the eternal
purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we
have boldness of speech and confidence of access through faith in
him. So I ask you not to lose heart over my afflictions for you;
this is your glory. [EPH 3:1-13]
But grace was given to each of us according to
the measure of Christ's gift. [EPH 4:7]
No foul language should come out of your mouths,
but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may
impart grace to those who hear. [EPH 4:29]
Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ
in immortality. [EPH 6:24]
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ. [Taken from PHIL 1:2]
I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of
you, praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you,
because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day
until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good
work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ
Jesus. It is right that I should think this way about all of you,
because I hold you in my heart, you who are all partners with me
in grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and
confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I long for
all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my
prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in
knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of
value, so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of
Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through
Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. [PHIL 1:3-11]
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your
spirit. [PHIL 4:23]
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
to the holy ones and faithful brothers in Christ in Colossae: grace to you and peace from God our Father. [COL 1:1-2]
We always give thanks to God, the Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your
faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the holy
ones because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. Of this you
have already heard through the word of truth, the gospel, that has
come to you. Just as in the whole world it is bearing fruit and
growing, so also among you, from the day you heard it and came to
know the grace of God in truth, as you learned it from Epaphras
our beloved fellow slave, who is a trustworthy minister of Christ
on your behalf and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
[COL 1:3-8]
The greeting is in my own hand, Paul's. Remember
my chains. Grace be with you. [COL 4:18]
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the church of the
Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: grace
to you and peace. [1THES 1:1]
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
[1THES 5:28]
Grace to you and peace from God (our) Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ. [Taken from 2THES 1:2]
To this end, we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and powerfully bring to fulfillment every good purpose and every effort of faith,
that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, in accord with the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ. [2THES 1:11-12]
But we ought to give thanks to God for you
always, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the
firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and
belief in truth. To this end he has (also) called you through our
gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore,
brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were
taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. May
our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us
and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his
grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good
deed and word. [2THES 2:13-17]
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all
of you. [2THES 3:18]
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
to Timothy, my true child in faith: grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. [1TM 1:1-2]
I am grateful to him who has strengthened me,
Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me trustworthy in
appointing me to the ministry. I was once a blasphemer and a
persecutor and an arrogant man, but I have been mercifully treated
because I acted out of ignorance in my unbelief. Indeed, the grace
of our Lord has been abundant, along with the faith and love that
are in Christ Jesus. [1TM 1:12-14]
O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid profane babbling and the absurdities of so-called knowledge.
By professing it, some people have deviated from the faith. Grace be with all of you.
[1TM 6:20-21]
For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame
the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.
For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power
and love and self-control. So do not be ashamed of your testimony
to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your
share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from
God. He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to
our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed
on us in Christ Jesus before time began, but now made manifest
through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus, who destroyed
death and brought life and immortality to light through the
gospel, for which I was appointed preacher and apostle and
teacher. [2TM 1:6-11]
So you, my child, be strong in the grace that is
in Christ Jesus. And what you heard from me through many witnesses
entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach
others as well. Bear your share of hardship along with me like a
good soldier of Christ Jesus. To satisfy the one who recruited
him, a soldier does not become entangled in the business affairs
of life. Similarly, an athlete cannot receive the winner's crown
except by competing according to the rules. [2TM 2:1-5]
The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with all
of you. [2TM 4:22]
Paul, a slave of God and apostle of Jesus Christ
for the sake of the faith of God's chosen ones and the recognition
of religious truth, in the hope of eternal life that God, who does
not lie, promised before time began, who indeed at the proper time
revealed his word in the proclamation with which I was entrusted
by the command of God our savior, to Titus, my true child in our
common faith: grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus
our savior. [TI 1:1-4]
As for yourself, you must say what is consistent
with sound doctrine, namely, that older men should be temperate,
dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, love, and endurance.
Similarly, older women should be reverent in their behavior, not
slanderers, not addicted to drink, teaching what is good, so that
they may train younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled, chaste, good homemakers, under the control
of their husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.
Urge the younger men, similarly, to control themselves, showing
yourself as a model of good deeds in every respect, with integrity
in your teaching, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be
criticized, so that the opponent will be put to shame without
anything bad to say about us. Slaves are to be under the control
of their masters in all respects, giving them satisfaction, not
talking back to them or stealing from them, but exhibiting
complete good faith, so as to adorn the doctrine of God our savior
in every way. For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and
training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live
temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the
blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of
our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us
from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his
own, eager to do what is good. Say these things. Exhort and
correct with all authority. Let no one look down on you. [TI
2:1-15]
Remind them to be under the control of
magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be open to every
good enterprise. They are to slander no one, to be peaceable,
considerate, exercising all graciousness toward everyone. For we
ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deluded, slaves to
various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful
ourselves and hating one another. But when the kindness and
generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any
righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us
through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom
he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so
that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope
of eternal life. his saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist
on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to
devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and
beneficial to others. Avoid foolish arguments, genealogies,
rivalries, and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and
futile. After a first and second warning, break off contact with a
heretic, realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and
stands self-condemned. [TI 3:1-11]
All who are with me send you greetings. Greet
those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you. [TI
3:15]
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ. [PHLM 1:3]
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your
spirit. [PHLM 1:25]
"You made him for a little while lower than
the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor, subjecting all
things under his feet." In "subjecting" all things
(to him), he left nothing not "subject to him." Yet at
present we do not see "all things subject to him," but
we do see Jesus "crowned with glory and honor" because
he suffered death, he who "for a little while" was made
"lower than the angels," that by the grace of God he
might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for
whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children
to glory, should make the leader to their salvation perfect
through suffering. He who consecrates and those who are being
consecrated all have one origin. Therefore, he is not ashamed to
call them "brothers," saying: "I will proclaim your
name to my brothers, in the midst of the assembly I will praise
you"; and again: "I will put my trust in him"; and
again: "Behold, I and the children God has given me."
[HEB 2:7-13]
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who
has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold
fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has
similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us
confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to
find grace for timely help. [HEB 4:14-16]
Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that
gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy. We must
consider how to rouse one another to love and good works. We
should not stay away from our assembly, as is the custom of some,
but encourage one another, and this all the more as you see the
day drawing near. If we sin deliberately after receiving knowledge
of the truth, there no longer remains sacrifice for sins but a
fearful prospect of judgment and a flaming fire that is going to
consume the adversaries. Anyone who rejects the law of Moses is
put to death without pity on the testimony of two or three
witnesses. Do you not think that a much worse punishment is due
the one who has contempt for the Son of God, considers unclean the
covenant-blood by which he was consecrated, and insults the spirit
of grace? We know the one who said: "Vengeance is mine; I
will repay," and again: "The Lord will judge his
people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the
living God. [HEB 10:23-31]
Strive for peace with everyone, and for that
holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no
one be deprived of the grace of God, that no bitter root spring up
and cause trouble, through which many may become defiled, that no
one be an immoral or profane person like Esau, who sold his
birthright for a single meal. For you know that later, when he
wanted to inherit his father's blessing, he was rejected because
he found no opportunity to change his mind, even though he sought
the blessing with tears. [HEB 12:14-17]
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God
to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate
their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and
forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching.
It is good to have our hearts strengthened by grace and not by
foods, which do not benefit those who live by them. [HEB 13:7-9]
Grace be with all of you. [HEB 13:25]
Where do the wars and where do the conflicts
among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war
within your members? You covet but do not possess. You kill and
envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not
possess because you do not ask. You ask but do not receive,
because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. Adulterers!
Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with
God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes
himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose that the scripture
speaks without meaning when it says, "The spirit that he has
made to dwell in us tends toward jealousy"? But he bestows a
greater grace; therefore, it says: "God resists the proud,
but gives grace to the humble." So submit yourselves to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and
he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and
purify your hearts, you of two minds. Begin to lament, to mourn,
to weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy
into dejection. Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will
exalt you. Do not speak evil of one another, brothers. Whoever
speaks evil of a brother or judges his brother speaks evil of the
law and judges the law. If you judge the law, you are not a doer
of the law but a judge. [JMS 4:1-11]
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen sojourners of the
dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, in the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification by the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling with the blood of Jesus Christ: may grace and peace be yours in abundance.
[1PT 1:1-2]
Although you have not seen him you love him;
even though you do not see him now yet believe in him, you rejoice
with an indescribable and glorious joy, as you attain the goal of
(your) faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this
salvation, prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be
yours searched and investigated it, investigating the time and
circumstances that the Spirit of Christ within them indicated when
it testified in advance to the sufferings destined for Christ and
the glories to follow them. It was revealed to them that they were
serving not themselves but you with regard to the things that have
now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to
you (through) the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which
angels longed to look. Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind,
live soberly, and set your hopes completely on the grace to be
brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Like obedient
children, do not act in compliance with the desires of your former
ignorance but, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in
every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, "Be holy
because I (am) holy." [1PT 1:8-16]
For whenever anyone bears the pain of unjust
suffering because of consciousness of God, that is a grace. But
what credit is there if you are patient when beaten for doing
wrong? But if you are patient when you suffer for doing what is
good, this is a grace before God. For to this you have been
called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an
example that you should follow in his footsteps. "He
committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." When
he was insulted, he returned no insult; when he suffered, he did
not threaten; instead, he handed himself over to the one who
judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body upon the
cross, so that, free from sin, we might live for righteousness. By
his wounds you have been healed. For you had gone astray like
sheep, but you have now returned to the shepherd and guardian of
your souls. [1PT 2:19-25]
As each one has received a gift, use it to serve
one another as good stewards of God's varied grace. [1PT 4:10]
Likewise, you younger members, be subject to the
presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in
your dealings with one another, for: "God opposes the proud
but bestows favor on the humble." So humble yourselves under
the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast
all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and
vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a
roaring lion looking for (someone) to devour. Resist him,
steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout
the world undergo the same sufferings. The God of all grace who
called you to his eternal glory through Christ (Jesus) will
himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you
have suffered a little. To him be dominion forever. Amen. [1PT
5:5-11]
I write you this briefly through Silvanus, whom
I consider a faithful brother, exhorting you and testifying that
this is the true grace of God. Remain firm in it. [1PT 5:12]
May grace and peace be yours in abundance
through knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. [Taken from 2PT
1:2]
Therefore, beloved, since you await these
things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him,
at peace. And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as
our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him,
also wrote to you, speaking of these things as he does in all his
letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the
ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as
they do the other scriptures. Therefore, beloved, since you are
forewarned, be on your guard not to be led into the error of the
unprincipled and to fall from your own stability. But grow in
grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To
him be glory now and to the day of eternity. (Amen.) [2PT 3:14-18]
Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God
the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father's Son in truth and
love. [2JN 1:3]
Beloved, although I was making every effort to
write to you about our common salvation, I now feel a need to
write to encourage you to contend for the faith that was once for
all handed down to the holy ones. For there have been some
intruders, who long ago were designated for this condemnation,
godless persons, who pervert the grace of our God into
licentiousness and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus
Christ. I wish to remind you, although you know all things, that
(the) Lord who once saved a people from the land of Egypt later
destroyed those who did not believe. The angels too, who did not
keep to their own domain but deserted their proper dwelling, he
has kept in eternal chains, in gloom, for the judgment of the
great day. Likewise, Sodom, Gomorrah, and the surrounding towns,
which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual promiscuity
and practiced unnatural vice, serve as an example by undergoing a
punishment of eternal fire. [JUDE 1:3-7]
John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to
you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and
from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ,
the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the
kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our
sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his
God and Father, to him be glory and power forever (and ever).
Amen. Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see
him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will
lament him. Yes. Amen. [RV 1:4-7]
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. [RV
