"When you come into the land and plant any fruit tree there, first look upon its fruit as if it were uncircumcised. For three years, while its fruit remains uncircumcised, it may not be eaten. In the fourth year, however, all of its fruit shall be sacred to the LORD as a thanksgiving feast to him. Not until the fifth year may you eat its fruit. Thus it will continue its yield for you. I, the LORD, am your God."
[LEV 19:23-25]
He now appointed certain Levites to minister
before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, thank, and praise the
LORD, the God of Israel. [1CHRON 16:4]
Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds. Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds. Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
[1CHRON 16:8-10]
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his
kindness endures forever; And say, "Save us, O God, our savior,
gather us and deliver us from the nations, That we may give thanks
to your holy name and glory in praising you." [1CHRON 16:34-35]
With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the others who were chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "because his kindness endures forever," with trumpets and cymbals for accompaniment, and instruments for the sacred chant. The sons of Jeduthun kept the gate.
[1CHRON 16:41-42]
They must be present every morning to offer
thanks and to praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening [Taken
from 1CHRON 23:30]
Then David blessed the LORD in the presence of
the whole assembly, praying in these words: "Blessed may you
be, O LORD, God of Israel our father, from eternity to eternity.
Yours, O LORD, are grandeur and power, majesty, splendor, and
glory. For all in heaven and on earth is yours; yours, O LORD, is
the sovereignty; you are exalted as head over all. Riches and
honor are from you, and you have dominion over all. In your hand
are power and might; it is yours to give grandeur and strength to
all. Therefore, our God, we give you thanks and we praise the
majesty of your name." [1CHRON 29:10-13]
When the trumpeters and singers were heard as a
single voice praising and giving thanks to the LORD, and when they
raised the sound of the trumpets, cymbals and other musical
instruments to "give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for
his mercy endures forever," the building of the LORD'S temple
was filled with a cloud. [2CHRON 5:13]
After consulting with the people, he appointed
some to sing to the LORD and some to praise the holy Appearance as
it went forth at the head of the army. They sang: "Give
thanks to the LORD, for his mercy endures forever." [2CHRON
20:21]
They alternated in songs of praise and
thanksgiving to the LORD, "for he is good, for his kindness
to Israel endures forever"; and all the people raised a great
shout of joy, praising the LORD because the foundation of the
LORD'S house had been laid. [EZRA 3:11]
The heads of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel. Their brethren who stood opposite them to sing praises and thanksgiving in fulfillment of the command of David, the man of God, one section opposite the other, were Mattaniah, Bakbukiah,
Obadiah. Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers. They kept watch over the storerooms at the gates.
[NEH 12:24-25]
At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the
Levites were sought out wherever they lived and were brought to
Jerusalem to celebrate a joyful dedication with thanksgiving hymns
and the music of cymbals, harps, and lyres. [NEH 12:27]
For the heads of the families of the singers and
the hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God came down from the
days of David and Asaph in times of old. [NEH 12:46]
Raphael called the two men aside privately and
said to them: "Thank God! Give him the praise and the glory.
Before all the living, acknowledge the many good things he has
done for you, by blessing and extolling his name in song. Before
all men, honor and proclaim God's deeds, and do not be slack in
praising him." [TOBIT 12:6]
"I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who
enter and serve before the Glory of the Lord." Stricken with
fear, the two men fell to the ground. But Raphael said to them:
"No need to fear; you are safe. Thank God now and forever. As
for me, when I came to you it was not out of any favor on my part,
but because it was God's will. So continue to thank him every day;
praise him with song. Even though you watched me eat and drink. I
did not really do so; what you were seeing was a vision. So now
get up from the ground and praise God. Behold, I am about to
ascend to him who sent me; write down all these things that have
happened to you." When Raphael ascended they rose to their
feet and could no longer see him. They kept thanking God and
singing his praises; and they continued to acknowledge these
marvelous deeds which he had done when the angel of God appeared
to them. [TOBIT 12:15-22]
Judith led all Israel in this song of
thanksgiving, and the people swelled this hymn of praise: "Strike up the instruments, a song to my God with
timbrels, chant to the Lord with cymbals; Sing to him a new song, exalt and acclaim his name..." [JDTH 15:14, 16:1]
Since we have been saved by God from grave dangers, we give him great thanks for having fought on our side against the king; it was he who drove out those who fought against the holy city.
[2MACC 1:11-12]
They collected the enemy's arms and stripped
them of their spoils, and then observed the sabbath with fervent
praise and thanks to the Lord who kept them safe for that day on
which he let descend on them the first dew of his mercy. [2MACC
8:27]
If you and your children are well and your
affairs are going as you wish, I thank God very much, for my hopes
are in heaven. [2MACC 9:20]
Suddenly, while they were still near Jerusalem, a horseman appeared at their head, clothed in white garments and brandishing gold weapons. Then all of them together thanked God for his mercy, and their hearts were filled with such courage...
[Taken from 2MACC 11:8-9]
I hate the company of evildoers; with the wicked I do not sit. I will wash my hands in innocence and walk round your altar, LORD,
Lifting my voice in thanks, recounting all your wondrous deeds.
LORD, I love the house where you dwell, the tenting-place of your glory. [PS
26:5-8]
Sing praise to the LORD, you faithful; give
thanks to God's holy name. [PS 30:5]
"What gain is there from my lifeblood, from
my going down to the grave? Does dust give you thanks or declare
your faithfulness?" [PS 30:10]
You changed my mourning into dancing; you took off my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness. With my whole being I sing endless praise to you. O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks. [PS
30:12-13]
Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; on the
ten-stringed lyre offer praise. [PS 33:2]
Then I will thank you in the great assembly; I
will praise you before the mighty throng. [PS 35:18]
As the deer longs for streams of water, so my soul longs for you, O God. My being thirsts for God, the living God. When can I go and see the face of God? My tears have been my food day and night, as they ask
daily, "Where is your God?" Those times I recall as I pour out my soul, When I went in procession with the crowd, I went with them to the house of God, Amid loud cries of thanksgiving,
with the multitude keeping festival. [PS 42:2-5]
But I am afflicted and in pain; let your saving help protect me, God,
That I may praise God's name in song and glorify it with thanksgiving. [PS
69:30-31]
We thank you, God, we give thanks; we call
upon your name, declare your wonderful deeds. [Taken from PS 75:2]
Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture,
will give thanks to you forever; through all ages we will declare
your praise. [PS 79:13]
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High, To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night, With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre.
For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy. [PS
92:2-5]
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
worship the LORD with cries of gladness; come before him with
joyful song. Know that the LORD is God, our maker to whom we
belong, whose people we are, God's well-tended flock. Enter the
temple gates with praise, its courts with thanksgiving. Give
thanks to God, bless his name; good indeed is the LORD, Whose love
endures forever, whose faithfulness lasts through every age. [PS
100:1-5]
Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the peoples his deeds! Sing praise, play music; proclaim all his wondrous deeds! Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! Rely on the mighty LORD; constantly seek his face. [PS
105:1-4]
Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the
nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in
praising you. [PS 106:47]
"Give thanks to the LORD who is good, whose love endures forever!" Let that be the prayer of the LORD'S redeemed, those redeemed from the hand of the foe, Those gathered from foreign lands, from east and west, from north and south.
[PS 107:1-3]
In their distress they cried to the LORD, who
rescued them in their peril, Guided them by a direct path so they
reached a city to live in. Let them thank the LORD for such
kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals. For he satisfied
the thirsty, filled the hungry with good things. [PS 107:6-9]
In their distress they cried to the LORD, who saved them in their peril, Led them forth from darkness and gloom and broke their chains asunder. Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.
[PS 107:13-15]
In their distress they cried to the LORD, who saved them in their peril, Sent forth the word to heal them, snatched them from the grave. Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.
Let them offer a sacrifice in thanks, declare
his works with shouts of joy. [PS 107:19-22]
Let them praise him in the assembly of the
people, give thanks in the council of the elders. [PS 107:32]
I will give fervent thanks to the LORD; before
all I will praise my God. [PS 109:30]
I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and
call on the name of the LORD. [PS 116:17]
Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose
love endures forever. [PS 118:1]
Open the gates of victory; I will enter and thank the LORD. This is the LORD'S own gate, where the victors enter. I thank you for you answered me; you have been my savior. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes. This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.
[PS 118:19-24]
You are my God, I give you thanks; my God, I
offer you praise. [PS 118:28]
Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love
endures forever. [PS 118:29]
I thank you, LORD, with all my heart; before the gods to you I sing.
I bow low toward your holy temple; I praise your name for your fidelity and love.
For you have exalted over all your name and your promise. When I cried out, you answered; you strengthened my spirit.
[PS 138:1-3]
Then the just will give thanks to your name; the
upright will dwell in your presence. [PS 140:14]
Lead me out of my prison, that I may give thanks
to your name. Then the just shall gather around me because you
have been good to me. [PS 142:8]
All your works give you thanks, O LORD and your
faithful bless you. [PS 145:10]
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; with the lyre celebrate our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth,
makes grass sprout on the mountains, Who gives animals their food and ravens what they cry for. God takes no delight in the strength of horses, no pleasure in the runner's stride. Rather the LORD takes pleasure in the devout, those who await his faithful care.
[PS 147:7-11]
He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end
than one with a flattering tongue. [PROV 28:23]
For what was not destroyed by fire, when merely warmed by a momentary sunbeam, melted; So that men might know that one must give you thanks before the sunrise, and turn to you at daybreak.
[WISDOM 16:27-28]
A fool has no friends, nor thanks for his generosity; Those who eat his bread have an evil tongue. How many times they laugh him to scorn!
[SIRACH 20:15-16]
Be it little or much, be content with what you have, and pay no heed to him who would disparage your home; A miserable life it is to go from house to house, for as a guest you dare not open your mouth.
The visitor has no thanks for filling the cups; besides, you will hear these bitter words: "Come here, stranger, set the table, give me to eat the food you have! Away, stranger, for one more worthy; for my brother's visit I need the room!"
[SIRACH 29:23-27]
How different the man who devotes himself to the
study of the law of the Most High! He explores the wisdom of the
men of old and occupies himself with the prophecies; He treasures
the discourses of famous men, and goes to the heart of involved
sayings; He studies obscure parables, and is busied with the
hidden meanings of the sages. He is in attendance on the great,
and has entrance to the ruler. He travels among the peoples of
foreign lands to learn what is good and evil among men. His care
is to seek the LORD, his Maker, to petition the Most High, To open
his lips in prayer, to ask pardon for his sins. Then, if it
pleases the LORD Almighty, he will be filled with the spirit of
understanding; He will pour forth his words of wisdom and in
prayer give thanks to the LORD, Who will direct his knowledge and
his counsel, as he meditates upon his mysteries. [SIRACH 39:1-7]
With his every deed he offered thanks to God
Most High, in words of praise. With his whole being he loved his
Maker and daily had his praises sung; He added beauty to the
feasts and solemnized the seasons of each year With string music
before the altar, providing sweet melody for the psalms So that
when the Holy Name was praised, before daybreak the sanctuary
would resound. [SIRACH 47:8-10]
I give you thanks, O God of my father; I praise
you, O God my savior! I will make known your name, refuge of my
life [Taken from SIRACH 51:1]
He saved me from evil of every kind and
preserved me in time of trouble. For this reason I thank him and I
praise him; I bless the name of the LORD. [SIRACH 51:12]
On that day, you will say: I give you thanks, O
LORD; though you have been angry with me, your anger has abated,
and you have consoled me. God indeed is my savior; I am confident
and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has
been my savior. With joy you will draw water at the fountain of
salvation, and say on that day: Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim
his name; among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how
exalted is his name. Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious
achievement; let this be known throughout all the earth. Shout
with exultation, O city of Zion, for great in your midst is the
Holy One of Israel! [ISA 12:1-6]
For it is not the nether world that gives you
thanks, nor death that praises you; Neither do those who go down
into the pit await your kindness. [ISA 38:18]
Yes, the LORD shall comfort Zion and have pity
on all her ruins; Her deserts he shall make like Eden, her
wasteland like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness shall be
found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of song. [ISA 51:3]
Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, "How desolate it is, without man, without beast!" and in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are now deserted, without man, without citizen, without beast, there shall yet be heard the cry of joy, the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, the voice of the bride, the sound of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, singing, "Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good; his mercy endures forever." For I will restore this country as of old, says the LORD.
[JER 33:10-11]
"To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and
praise, because you have given me wisdom and power. Now you have
shown me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the
king's dream." [DAN 2:23]
The flames rose forty-nine cubits above the
furnace, and spread out, burning the Chaldeans nearby. But the
angel of the Lord went down into the furnace with Azariah and his
companions, drove the fiery flames out of the furnace, and made
the inside of the furnace as though a dew-laden breeze were
blowing through it. The fire in no way touched them or caused them
pain or harm. Then these three in the furnace with one voice sang,
glorifying and blessing God: "Blessed are you, O Lord, the
God of our fathers, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever;
And blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and
exalted above all for all ages... Give thanks to the Lord, for he
is good, for his mercy endures forever. Bless the God of gods, all
you who fear the Lord; praise him and give him thanks, because his
mercy endures forever." Hearing them sing, and astonished at
seeing them alive, King Nebuchadnezzar rose in haste and asked his
nobles, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?"
"Assuredly, O king," they answered. "But," he
replied, "I see four men unfettered and unhurt, walking in
the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God." [DAN 3:47-52,89-92]
Even after Daniel heard that this law had been
signed, he continued his custom of going home to kneel in prayer
and give thanks to his God in the upper chamber three times a day,
with the windows open toward Jerusalem. [DAN 6:11]
Then [Jesus] took the [small amount of
food], gave thanks, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied. They picked up the fragments left
over - seven baskets full. Those who ate were four thousand men, not counting women and children.
[Taken from MT 15:36-38]
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."
[MT 26:26-28]
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them, and gave
them to his disciples to distribute, and they distributed them to
the crowd. [MK 8:6]
While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed
for many." [MK 14:22-24]
There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.
[LK 2:36-38]
As he continued his journey to Jerusalem, he
traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a
village, ten lepers met (him). They stood at a distance from him
and raised their voice, saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on
us!" And when he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves
to the priests." As they were going they were cleansed. And
one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying
God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked
him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, "Ten were
cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but
this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" Then he said
to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you." [LK
17:11-19]
He then addressed this parable to those who were
convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else.
"Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a
Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up
his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you
that I am not like the rest of humanity - greedy, dishonest,
adulterous - or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week,
and I pay tithes on my whole income.' But the tax collector stood
off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but
beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.' I
tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for
everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who
humbles himself will be exalted." [LK 18:9-14]
When the hour came, he took his place at table
with the apostles. He said to them, "I have eagerly desired
to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for, I tell you, I
shall not eat it (again) until there is fulfillment in the kingdom
of God." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and said,
"Take this and share it among yourselves; for I tell you
(that) from this time on I shall not drink of the fruit of the
vine until the kingdom of God comes." Then he took the bread,
said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
"This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in
memory of me." And likewise the cup after they had eaten,
saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will
be shed for you." [LK 22:14-20]
Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and
distributed them to those who were reclining [Taken from JN 6:11]
The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat, but only his disciples had left. Other boats came from Tiberias near the place where they had eaten the bread when the Lord gave thanks.
[JN 6:22-23]
Jesus said, "Take away the stone."
Martha, the dead man's sister, said to him, "Lord, by now
there will be a stench; he has been dead for four days."
Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believe
you will see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone.
And Jesus raised his eyes and said, "Father, I thank you for
hearing me. I know that you always hear me; but because of the
crowd here I have said this, that they may believe that you sent
me." And when he had said this, he cried out in a loud voice,
"Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, tied hand
and foot with burial bands, and his face was wrapped in a cloth.
So Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go." [JN
11:39-44]
"I urge you, therefore, to take some food; it will help you survive. Not a hair of the head of anyone of you will be lost." When he said this, he took bread,
gave thanks to God in front of them all, broke it, and began to eat.
[ACTS 27:34-35]
The brothers from there heard about us and came
as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On
seeing them, Paul gave thanks to God and took courage. [ACTS
28:15]
First, I give thanks to my God through Jesus
Christ for all of you, because your faith is heralded throughout
the world. [ROM 1:8]
For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened.
[ROM 1:19-21]
For sin is not to have any power over you, since
you are not under the law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin
because we are not under the law but under grace? Of course not!
Do you not know that if you present yourselves to someone as
obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, either of
sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to
righteousness? But thanks be to God that, although you were once
slaves of sin, you have become obedient from the heart to the
pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted. [ROM 6:14-17]
Whoever observes the day, observes it for the
Lord. Also whoever eats, eats for the Lord, since he gives thanks
to God; while whoever abstains, abstains for the Lord and gives
thanks to God. [ROM 14:6]
I give thanks to my God always on your account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the testimony
to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[1COR 1:4-7]
If I partake thankfully, why am I reviled for that over which I give thanks? So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
[1COR 10:30-31]
For I received from the Lord what I also handed
on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over,
took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said,
"This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of
me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often
as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you
eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the
Lord until he comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks
the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body
and blood of the Lord. [1COR 11:23-27]
Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should
pray to be able to interpret. (For) if I pray in a tongue, my
spirit is at prayer but my mind is unproductive. So what is to be
done? I will pray with the spirit, but I will also pray with the
mind. I will sing praise with the spirit, but I will also sing
praise with the mind. Otherwise, if you pronounce a blessing
(with) the spirit, how shall one who holds the place of the
uninstructed say the "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since
he does not know what you are saying? For you may be giving thanks
very well, but the other is not built up. I give thanks to God
that I speak in tongues more than any of you, but in the church I
would rather speak five words with my mind, so as to instruct
others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. [1COR 14:13-19]
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
[1COR 15:56-57]
We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of
the affliction that came to us in the province of Asia; we were
utterly weighed down beyond our strength, so that we despaired
even of life. Indeed, we had accepted within ourselves the
sentence of death, that we might trust not in ourselves but in God
who raises the dead. He rescued us from such great danger of
death, and he will continue to rescue us; in him we have put our
hope (that) he will also rescue us again, as you help us with
prayer, so that thanks may be given by many on our behalf for the
gift granted us through the prayers of many. [2COR 1:8-11]
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in
triumph in Christ and manifests through us the odor of the
knowledge of him in every place. [2COR 2:14]
Everything indeed is for you, so that the grace
bestowed in abundance on more and more people may cause the
thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God. [2COR 4:15]
The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread
for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the
harvest of your righteousness. You are being enriched in every way
for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God,
for the administration of this public service is not only
supplying the needs of the holy ones but is also overflowing in
many acts of thanksgiving to God. Through the evidence of this
service, you are glorifying God for your obedient confession of
the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your contribution to
them and to all others, while in prayer on your behalf they long
for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks
be to God for his indescribable gift! [2COR 9:10-15]
Therefore, I, too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your
love for all the holy ones, do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.
[EPH 1:15-17]
So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and
live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as
a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma. Immorality or
any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is
fitting among holy ones, no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk,
which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving. Be sure of this,
that no immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolater,
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [EPH 5:1-5]
And do not get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another (in) psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts,
giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
[EPH 5:18-20]
I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you, praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you, because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day until now.
[PHIL 1:3-5]
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known
to God. [PHIL 4:6]
We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the holy ones because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. Of this you have already heard through the word of truth, the gospel, that has come to you.
[Taken from COL 1:3-6]
Therefore, from the day we heard this, we do not
cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the
knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and
understanding to live in a manner worthy of the Lord, so as to be
fully pleasing, in every good work bearing fruit and growing in
the knowledge of God, strengthened with every power, in accord
with his glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy
giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the
inheritance of the holy ones in light. He delivered us from the
power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved
Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. [COL 1:9-14]
So, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, rooted in him and built upon him and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
[COL 2:6-7]
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts,
the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be
thankful. [COL 3:15]
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do
everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
Father through him. [COL 3:17]
Persevere in prayer, being watchful in it with
thanksgiving [Taken from COL 4:2]
We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope
of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father, knowing, brothers loved by God, how you were chosen.
[1THES 1:2-4]
And for this reason we too give thanks to God
unceasingly, that, in receiving the word of God from hearing us,
you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of
God, which is now at work in you who believe. [1THES 2:13]
What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God
for you, for all the joy we feel on your account before our God?
[1THES 3:9]
In all circumstances give thanks, for this is
the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. [1THES 5:18]
We ought to thank God always for you, brothers,
as is fitting, because your faith flourishes ever more, and the
love of every one of you for one another grows ever greater.
[2THES 1:3]
But we ought to give thanks to God for you
always, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the
firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and
belief in truth. [2THES 2:13]
First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone, for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity. This is good and pleasing to God our savior, who wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth.
[1TM 2:1-4]
For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the invocation of God in
prayer. [1TM 4:4-5]
I give thanks to my God always, remembering you in my prayers, as I hear of the love and the faith you have in the Lord Jesus and for all the holy
ones, so that your partnership in the faith may become effective in recognizing every good there is in us
that leads to Christ. [PHLM 1:4-6]
Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne and worship him, who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns before the throne, exclaiming: "Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things; because of your will they came to be and were created."
[RV 4:9-11]
All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the throne, worshiped God, and exclaimed:
"Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor, power, and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen."
[RV 7:11-12]
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet. There
were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world
now belongs to our Lord and to his Anointed, and he will reign
forever and ever." The twenty-four elders who sat on their
thrones before God prostrated themselves and worshiped God and
said: "We give thanks to you, Lord God almighty, who are and
who were. For you have assumed your great power and have
established your reign. The nations raged, but your wrath has
come, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to recompense
your servants, the prophets, and the holy ones and those who fear
your name, the small and the great alike, and to destroy those who
destroy the earth." Then God's temple in heaven was opened,
and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There
were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an
earthquake, and a violent hailstorm. [RV 11:15-19]
