Who are the Fourteen Holy Helpers? Have they traditionally been considered very efficacious?

The fourteen holy helpers are: St. George, St. Blaise, St. Erasmus, St. Pantaleon, St. Vitus, St. Christopher, St. Dionysius, St. Cyriacus, St. Achatius, St. Eustace, St. Giles, St. Margaret, St. Catharine, and St. Barbara. They have traditionally been invoked against many troubles and by those of various occupations and have been considered "especially efficacious" in their assistance. Their traditional feast day is August 8 (although the feast of the Fourteen Holy Helpers was suppressed in the wake of the Second Vatican Council of the 1960's). Note that these saints may be invoked individually or collectively.

Did Vatican II ban the Traditional Latin Mass?

No, Vatican II did not ban the Traditional Latin Mass. As stated in Sacrosanctum Concilium, "Finally, in faithful obedience to tradition, the sacred Council declares that Holy Mother Church holds all lawfully recognized rites to be of equal right and dignity; that she wishes to preserve them in the future and to foster them in every way." (Second Vatican Council, Sacrosanctum Concilium, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, December 4, 1963). Further, Pope John Paul II repeatedly expressed his desire that the faithful who choose to attend the Traditional Latin Mass be accommodated and Pope Benedict XVI formally stated that the traditional Latin Mass was "never abrogated" (and was "always permitted"). If this Mass is not available in your parish, be sure to request it from your pastor. [Note: The rites for the other sacraments (including Baptism, Nuptial Masses, Requiems, etc. were also not abrogated and, according to Pope Benedict XVI, may be requested from your pastor.]
