& Take: Q & A

Volunteers'
Corner: Q & A
Q.
Why
didn't my last post appear?
A.
Posts may not appear for a number of reasons (e.g. technical problems,
content problems, website limitations, etc.). They may not appear if all
instructions were not followed, if there was a problem with the content,
or if the post was subject to auto-rejection. The post may not appear if
there is a problem with the system date / time (click
here to check the system date / time). Or, the post may simply be
waiting for processing (remember that posts do not appear immediately). For reasons posts might be subject to
auto-rejection, click
here. For general submission guidelines / tips, click
here. For submission guidelines for sections, click
here. Note: Please remember that posts may not appear on this
site for a variety of reasons. If your post does not appear on this
site, it does not necessarily mean anything was wrong with your post.
Q.
Why
don't any of my posts appear?
A.
If you have submitted a number of posts which do not appear, you should
carefully consider our general submission
guidelines / tips, our submission
guidelines for sections, and auto
rejection information. If your posts were all submitted on the same day (or too
closely together), you may have exceeded the maximums (click
here) or your posts may have otherwise not met our guidelines. If
your posts were spread out over time, yet do not appear, it is possible:
(1) That you simply had 'bad timing' (e.g. submissions occurred on days
when technical problems occurred / when the site was undergoing maintenance
/ when posts were restricted / etc.) [You should be careful to check the
following each day for alerts / planned outages / etc.: Notices
| MCS
Calendar | Site
Update | Daily
Digest], (2) That your submissions simply failed to meet our
guidelines [Be sure to review our general
submission guidelines / tips,
our submission
guidelines for sections, and auto-rejection
information], (3) That there was a combination of the first two points,
or (4) That you have been banned from posting on this site. Note that in
the first three cases, you should be able to adjust your future
submissions so that they are more likely to appear on this site (review
the links above). If you have not been a 'problem user' in the past, it
is likely that this is all that is needed. If, however, you have been a
'problem user' (e.g. you have violated our code of conduct / not
followed our instructions / etc.), you may have been banned from future
posting on this site. If this is the case, your future posts may not
appear on this site. Note that we are not required to warn you of the
possibility of being banned from future posting or to notify you of
our decision to take this action. All users are sufficiently warned in advance of
this possibility (e.g. in our terms of use). Please do not contact us
regarding your posting status as we are unable to respond to your
request.
Q.
If I repeatedly submit a post that does not appear, what should I do?
A.
You should not repeatedly submit a post! If you do so, it may be
rejected automatically. If your post does not appear after you have
carefully submitted it according to all guidelines, you should not
submit it again.
Q.
Will you tell me why my post does not appear?
A.
Sorry, no. Please do not contact us regarding such matters as we are
unable to respond personally to your request.
Q.
Will you tell me the status of my post?
A.
Sorry, but we are unable to notify you of the status of your post.
Please do not contact us regarding such matters as we are unable to
respond personally to your request.
Q.
What if it is taking a long time for my post to appear?
A.
As indicated, long processing delays are not unexpected (especially in certain
sections). New posts may
appear within 72 hours, however, it may take 10 days or more for new
submissions to appear, especially during our busiest
times. Be assured that we prefer to keep this time period to a
minimum, however, it may depend greatly on our resources &
support. If you would like to support this site at little
or no cost, visit frequently, invite
friends, and consider other
no-cost ways of supporting this
