Arrow Question / Issue:

"Why is it said that Protestants 'feel at home' in the new mass?"

Due to the changes in the 1960's that 'Protestantized' the Mass, various Protestants may now "feel at home" at the new (Novus Ordo) Mass. As stated in our publication 'The Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass vs. the New (Novus Ordo) Mass'...

The New Mass is "praised by Lutherans because it brings it more towards theirs". In fact, this new rite of Mass has been "given an enthusiastic welcome by many Protestants who feel at home" with the new rite. As indicated above, some have even used the new rite in their own 'worship services'. Catholics, however, should not welcome the changes since we can see clearly that they have been quite harmful to the Church (and have helped to diminish respect for the Eucharist and for the priesthood, have fostered error, have confused the faithful, have caused disunity, etc.).

While it is true that various heretics may now "feel at home" at the new (Novus Ordo) Mass, this is in contrast to many faithful & knowledgeable Catholics who no longer "feel at home" at a Protestantized (Novus Ordo) Mass. As stated in our publication 'The Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass vs. the New (Novus Ordo) Mass'...

[Catholics] may have come to the realization [regarding the superiority of the old Mass] after learning how closely the New Mass parallels Protestant 'worship services' or by discovering that the changes incorporated into the New Mass parallel the changes made by the 16th century Protest-ant 'Reformers' who purposely instituted those changes to destroy the belief of Catholics. They may be troubled by the unprecedented fabrication of a Mass by men in the 1960's and that its creation was influenced by Protestant 'observers' - and that the person in charge of the New Mass' creation was a suspected Freemason. Perhaps they are troubled by the unprecedented manner in which the New Mass was imposed on the faithful and by the fact that the New Mass is now acceptable to many Protestants - always fierce opponents of the Mass - and that some Protestants have even used the New Mass in their own 'churches'.

IMHO, Catholics are rightly concerned about grave harm to the faithful from Protestantizing a Catholic Mass. Rather than alter the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the first time in history to please heretics, the Church should employ the effective & appropriate – 'tried & true' – methods of bringing Protestants to the only true faith, which is necessary for their salvation.

Did you know? Those wishing to avoid harmful post-Vatican II novelties may, thanks be to God, still lawfully attend the Traditional Latin Mass. The Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass differs from the 1960's Novus Ordo Mass in many & significant ways (try here for more information). "After a first and second warning, break off contact with a heretic, realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and stands self-condemned." (St. Paul, Ti. 3:10-11)

"And yet this same gentle and loving Saint [John] was the inflexible enemy of heresy; for heresy, by destroying Faith, poisons Charity in its very source. It is from this Apostle that the Church has received the maxim she gives to us, of shunning heresy as we would shun a plague: If any man come to you and bring not the doctrine of Christ, receive him not into the house, nor say to him 'God speed thee', for he that saith unto him 'God speed thee', communicateth with his wicked works (St. John, 2 Jn. 1:10-11)." (Dom Gueranger)
