First of all, there is
no such thing as a 'sex change'. It is impossible to change one's sex,
regardless of any so-called medical procedure. One's sex (given by
God at conception – not 'assigned at
birth') is impossible to change, so referring to a 'sex change' is fiction. As
noted in the user-submitted article "Transgenderism:
A Commonsense Catholic Approach"...
"Even if
someone mutilates their body to appear more like the other gender, every cell in
their body will betray the ruse. Remember from Biology 101 that every cell has
either a pair of X chromosomes (females) or a pair of X and Y chromosomes
(males). It is not possible to alter every cell in the entire body - and each
cell reveals a person's true gender. No matter what surgeries a person undergoes
or hormones a person takes, every cell in their body will always attest to the
person's true gender. In other words, the person will always remain their
'original' gender, they will continue to be male or female, whether they like it
or not. Thinking (or identifying as something else, or acting as something else)
can never have the power to change reality."
Second, such
procedures are offensive to God/sinful.
Consider this passage from
Holy Scripture...
"A woman shall
not wear an article proper to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's dress; for
anyone who does such things is an abomination to the LORD, your God."
(Deut. 22:5)
If God is offended by
someone putting on the easily changeable garments of the opposite sex, how much
more do you think He must be offended by someone trying to permanently change
the actual body that He designed for them into a body 'more resembling' the
opposite sex?
Third, besides
being pointless and offensive/sinful, supposed attempts to treat those
suffering with gender dysphoria by a so-called 'sex change' may cause the
persons undergoing them MORE harm. For example, some may experience physical
suffering resulting from the procedure and many have noted a significant increase in suicide rates after attempting to change one's sex.
How is that charitable?
Finally, I think it would be best to stop using such untruthful terms as...
* "sex change"
* "sex reassignment"
* "gender-affirmation surgery"
* "trans man" / "trans men"
* "trans woman" / "trans women"
* etc.
As noted above, there
can be NO actual sex change or sex reassignment, and such procedures certainly
don't intend to "affirm" one's true gender (sex). 'Trans men' aren't in actuality
men and 'trans women' aren't in actuality women. Using false terms can help
spread untruths/lies – and
therefore such terms must certainly please the Father of Lies (Satan),
NOT God. Rather, we should
pray that those who suffer from gender dysphoria get
proper help so that they
can live as God intended for them –
and for which they will enjoy the most happiness.
