Vaccination Myths

In response to the recent hype concerning vaccinations and the attempt to impose more vaccinations on the entire populace (even by some well-meaning but misguided 'conservatives'), I shall endeavor to share some fruits of my research on this matter. I freely admit that I am not a doctor, but I do not think a medical degree is necessary to grasp these facts. The information presented here is merely offered to get you thinking about this important - and potentially life changing - topic. I encourage you to do your own research regarding my assertions. In your quest for answers, don't neglect to diligently read all package inserts for vaccines, carefully considering their list of ingredients, and be certain that you carefully examine all potential risks. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what is best for you and for your family. My hope is that you will make a truly informed decision that is best for yourself and your loved ones.

First Myth: Vaccines are always safe.

Response: Tell that to the many children (and adults) who have been injured by vaccinations. There have literally been thousands of payouts associated with vaccine injuries in the last few decades. According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) website:

"Since the first National Vaccine Injury Compensation (VICP) claims were filed in 1989, 3,941 compensation awards have been made."

This same website also includes a "Vaccine Injury Table" that lists "injuries/conditions that are presumed to be caused by vaccines." The HRSA website also states that:

"The Vaccine Injury Compensation Trust Fund provides funding for the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program to compensate vaccine-related injury or death [!] claims for covered vaccines administered on or after October 1, 1988."

So, they therefore ADMIT PLAINLY that vaccines can cause injury and death. Bet your doctor doesn't mention that! And keep in mind that these payouts may represent only a small (or very small) fraction of those who believe they have been injured by vaccines.

Various sources indicate that some vaccines may contain potentially harmful ingredients. For example, consider that the FDA website states that:

"Thimerosal is a mercury-containing organic compound (an organomercurial). Since the 1930s, it has been widely used as a preservative in a number of biological and drug products, including many vaccines, to help prevent potentially life threatening contamination with harmful microbes. Over the past several years, because of an increasing awareness of the theoretical potential for neurotoxicity of even low levels of organomercurials and because of the increased number of thimerosal containing vaccines that had been added to the infant [!] immunization schedule, concerns about the use of thimerosal in vaccines and other products have been raised. Indeed, because of these concerns, the Food and Drug Administration has worked with, and continues to work with, vaccine manufacturers to reduce or eliminate thimerosal from vaccines."

They FREELY admit here that this "widely used" component of vaccines (in use for decades!) was 'concerning' and they have worked to "reduce[!] or eliminate" this component that they admit has a "theoretical potential for neurotoxicity" at "even low levels".

Clearly, the HRSA's & FDA's own admissions (e.g. references to "vaccine-related injury or death" and "the theoretical potential for neurotoxicity of even low levels") show that the safety of vaccines is NOT assured or guaranteed. And this last ingredient mentioned above (thimerosal) is but one of several components possibly found in vaccines that opponents claim may be potentially unsafe.

Second Myth: Vaccines are always effective.

Response: No one can guarantee that vaccines will be effective. Besides, 'effective' may not mean what you think it means. 'Effective' can mean simply 'that antibodies are produced', NOT that vaccinated persons are protected from the disease they were vaccinated against. The production of antibodies as a result of vaccines may NOT be sufficient to protect someone from contracting a disease. In fact, many, many persons have become ill from (and have even died from) diseases they had been vaccinated against. This fact is clearly proven (over and over again!) by empirical data. There is NO guarantee that vaccines will be effective in preventing disease.

Third Myth: The near elimination of certain diseases can be conclusively attributed to vaccines.

Response: This myth can be refuted by looking at simple timelines. These timelines, available on many websites, show that certain diseases were almost entirely eliminated BEFORE vaccines were introduced. This reduction in disease may be traced to better sanitation practices, better hygiene practices (e.g. simple hand-washing), better nutrition & sewage, etc. Don't give credit to vaccines where it is not due! Think for yourself: Isn't the cause-effect relationship distinctly disproved when the timeline shows that the disease was already almost eliminated BEFORE the vaccinations started? How can vaccines be responsible for a decline in diseases before they were ever given to people?

Fourth Myth: There is never anything to object to morally concerning vaccinations.

Response: There can be a number of reasons to morally object to vaccinations. Besides the potential health risks that vaccines can pose (certainly a moral issue for parents who have to decide whether to potentially risk their child's health), and besides the fact that vaccinations may be compulsory (another moral issue for those who believe it is their God-given right to decide what is - or is not - put into their body), it is a FACT that elements of certain vaccines may be traced back to aborted babies. That should certainly be morally objectionable to all Catholics and others of good will. How many Catholics even know they may be allowing others to inject components derived from aborted babies into their bodies?

Fifth Myth: We can trust the government to tell us everything we need to know regarding vaccinations & their safety.

Response: Really? Has the government informed you of the thousands injured or killed by vaccines? Have you been informed about the huge amounts your representatives in government may have received from the drug companies which manufacture vaccines (and who GREATLY profit from these vaccines - vaccines are, in fact, a multi-billion dollar industry and pharmaceutical companies are among the biggest - if not the biggest - spenders on lobbying in the entire country)? Has the government notified you that more and more vaccinations may now be given to children at an earlier age (even before an infant leaves the hospital)? Has the government informed you that your INFANT may even be vaccinated against sexually transmitted diseases? Does the government assure you of vaccines' safety on one hand and then tax you on the other hand to pay when the 'safe' vaccination harms someone? Has the government warned you that your 'effective vaccine' may not actually prevent you from contracting the disease it is supposed to protect against? Has the government told you about the potentially unsafe ingredients found to be in certain vaccines? Have you been informed by the government about possible sterility-affecting components in various vaccines? What about the components derived from aborted babies that may be in vaccines? Has the government explained to you clearly that they have shielded drug companies from liability by setting up a vaccine court instead of allowing injured parties to sue drug companies in regular courts (where the awards may have been much higher and may have helped ensure that drug companies produced safer vaccines)? Does the government force you or your children to be vaccinated (even a flu shot) against your will? (And you still trust them?) Are you under the (horribly mistaken) impression that everything that is done with regard to vaccines is altruistic and that drug companies do not profit enormously from the current state of affairs? Do you really have so much faith in the U.S. government - despite its sorry record (and despite the HRSA's & FDA's own admissions indicated above) - that you will blindly put your trust in them (and the drug companies), both for yourself and for the health of your children?

In conclusion, it is a fact that many people suffer under misconceptions regarding vaccines. Sometimes these misconceptions are cleared up by unsuspecting parents who are shocked to discover that their children may have been injured by the very vaccines they thought would benefit them. You can find a number of heart-wrenching stories online concerning children allegedly harmed by vaccines. Note that a variety of vaccine opponents have even attributed the dramatic rise of autism (reportedly now as high as 1 in 68 children) to vaccines. Although disputed, many parents (even some doctors) strongly attribute their children's autism to vaccinations.

Yet despite the severity of the allegations, parents' concerns regarding vaccines may simply be written off by the medical community. A number of doctors have similarly expressed concern regarding vaccinations and, as a result, some have reportedly suffered various 'punishments' (e.g. loss of a position). Claiming vaccines could be unsafe may not be a popular position to take, but that does not of itself make it a wrong position. Shouldn't we be most interested here in the truth, whatever it may be?

Yet, there is an emotional component to this debate. Unfortunately, people may be guided by emotions rather than facts when it comes to the topic of vaccinations. Perhaps some persons are fearful that they (or a loved one) will get sick and consider vaccines as a panacea. Some will even go so far as to blame the unvaccinated for the spread of disease, but this is in itself ironic: These people want to force YOU (the unvaccinated) to get vaccinated to protect THEM (the vaccinated), but by doing so, they are admitting that their vaccination is NOT effective (otherwise they'd have 'no chance' of being infected by you).

And think for a moment how far things can go with the seemingly 'never-ending list' of new recommended vaccines and boosters (courtesy of the powerful drug companies who insist that you & your children need their products and influence the government to recommend/require them). How many more vaccines and boosters will be pushed on the population before it stops? Did you vote on any of these new additions? Did you even know they have been increasing over the years? Do you really believe they can know with certainty the effects that so many combinations of drugs may have on the human body (including even infants and pregnant women)? And keep in mind during all of this that the drug companies are shielded from vaccine liability, so they don't have to worry so much about the harm their drugs may cause you or your loved ones.

In the end, I suggest that you not be forced to vaccinate against your will (including flu shots)! Don't risk yourself or your children being harmed by vaccines without at least carefully considering the risks beforehand. Keep in mind that government officials (e.g. politicians well-funded by pharmaceutical lobbies) and the multi-billion dollar drug companies have a vested interest in your following along with the crowd (that is, dutifully & unquestioningly being vaccinated with all their 'recommended' potions), whether or not you may be injured or killed in the process. The drug companies continue to get rich and simultaneously enjoy being shielded from liability. The politicians get rich from the drug companies whose products they promote/protect. And note that even doctors may NOT be disinterested parties and may not have all the facts. Not only might vaccinations be a doctor's bread & butter service (e.g. pediatricians), but - unlike other actions the doctor performs on a daily basis - vaccinating patients may be a near 'liability free' endeavor for them. Further, the doctor may not want to be punished or to be seen as outside the mainstream by admitting there may be any cause for concern.

Before signing off, I encourage you to do your own solid research concerning the dangers of vaccines and also for ways to avoid 'mandatory' vaccinations if you choose not to vaccinate. I have found that there is a lot of information available on these topics.
