Maintaining Good Conduct |
Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that if they speak
of you as evildoers, they may observe your good works and glorify
God on the day of visitation. [1 PT 2:12]

Do Not Hold Self in Too High Esteem / Many Parts of
the Body of
Christ / Use of Gifts |
For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to
think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think
soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has
apportioned. For as in one body we have many parts, and all the
parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one
body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we
have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us
exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if
ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one
exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one
is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with
cheerfulness. [ROM 12:3-8]

Marital Responsibilities / Wife / Husband / Unmarried / Widows
/ Separation / Divorce |
The husband should fulfill his duty toward his wife, and
likewise the wife toward her husband. A wife does not have
authority over her own body, but rather her husband, and similarly
a husband does not have authority over his own body, but rather
his wife. Indeed, I wish everyone to be as I am, but each has a
particular gift from God, one of one kind and one of another. Now
to the unmarried and to widows, I say: it is a good thing for them
to remain as they are, as I do, but if they cannot exercise
self-control they should marry, for it is better to marry than to
be on fire. To the married, however, I give this instruction (not
I, but the Lord): a wife should not separate from her husband -
and if she does separate she must either remain single or become
reconciled to her husband - and a husband should not divorce his
wife. [1 COR 7:3-4, 7-11]

Marriage |
Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept
undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers. [HEB
13:4]

The Body / Members of Christ |
Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will do
away with both the one and the other. The body, however, is not
for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body;
God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power. Do you
not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take
Christ's members and make them the members of a prostitute? Of
course not! (Or) do you not know that anyone who joins himself to
a prostitute becomes one body with her? For "the two,"
it says, "will become one flesh." But whoever is joined
to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Avoid immorality. Every
other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the immoral
person sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body
is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God,
and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a
price. Therefore, glorify God in your body. [1 COR 6:13-20]

Peace Through Christ / Members of
the Household of God |
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have become
near by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, he who made both
one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his flesh,
abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims, that he
might create in himself one new person in place of the two, thus
establishing peace, and might reconcile both with God, in one
body, through the cross, putting that enmity to death by it. He
came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those
who were near, for through him we both have access in one Spirit
to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the
household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him
the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple
sacred in the Lord; in him you also are being built together into
a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. [EPH 2:13-22]

Proper Behavior & Appearance in Church / Women / Men |
Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings
shame upon his head. But any woman who prays or prophesies with
her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and
the same thing as if she had had her head shaved. For if a woman
does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut
off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or
her head shaved, then she should wear a veil. A man, on the other
hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory
of God, but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from
woman, but woman from man; nor was man created for woman, but
woman for man; for this reason a woman should have a sign of
authority on her head, because of the angels. Woman is not
independent of man or man of woman in the Lord. For just as woman
came from man, so man is born of woman; but all things are from
God. Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God
with her head unveiled? Does not nature itself teach you that if a
man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him, whereas if a
woman has long hair it is her glory, because long hair has been
given (her) for a covering? But if anyone is inclined to be
argumentative, we do not have such a custom, nor do the churches
of God. [1 COR 11:4-16]

Behavior of Older and Younger Men & Women / Men / Women |
As for yourself, you must say what is consistent with sound
doctrine, namely, that older men should be temperate, dignified,
self-controlled, sound in faith, love, and endurance. Similarly,
older women should be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers,
not addicted to drink, teaching what is good, so that they may
train younger women to love their husbands and children, to be
self-controlled, chaste, good homemakers, under the control of
their husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.
Urge the younger men, similarly, to control themselves, showing
yourself as a model of good deeds in every respect, with integrity
in your teaching, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be
criticized, so that the opponent will be put to shame without
anything bad to say about us. For the grace of God has appeared,
saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly
desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age,
as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the
great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us
to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a
people as his own, eager to do what is good. Say these things.
Exhort and correct with all authority. Let no one look down on
you. [TI 2:1-15]

Mend Your Ways

Finally, brothers, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one
another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of
love and peace will be with you. [2 COR 13:11]

Disobedience / Mercy / The Wisdom of God |
Just as you once disobeyed God but have now received mercy
because of their disobedience, so they have now disobeyed in order
that, by virtue of the mercy shown to you, they too may (now)
receive mercy. For God delivered all to disobedience, that he
might have mercy upon all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom
and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments and how
unsearchable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the
Lord or who has been his counselor?" "Or who has given
him anything that he may be repaid?" For from him and through
him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. [Taken
from ROM 11:30-36]

Tranquil Life / Minding Own Affairs / Work |
We urge you, brothers, to progress even more, and to aspire to
live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with
your (own) hands, as we instructed you, that you may conduct
yourselves properly toward outsiders and not depend on anyone.

More Blessed to Give Than Receive |
In every way I have shown you that by hard work of that sort we
must help the weak, and keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus
who himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'
[ACTS 20:35]

Mutual Charity / Love |
On the subject of mutual charity you have no need for anyone to
write you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one
another. [1 THES 4:9]

False Doctrines / Myths / The Law |
I repeat the request I made of you when I was on my way to
Macedonia, that you stay in Ephesus to instruct certain people not
to teach false doctrines or to concern themselves with myths and
endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the
plan of God that is to be received by faith. The aim of this
instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a
sincere faith. Some people have deviated from these and turned to
meaningless talk, wanting to be teachers of the law, but without
understanding either what they are saying or what they assert with
such assurance. We know that the law is good, provided that one
uses it as law, with the understanding that law is meant not for a
righteous person but for the lawless and unruly, the godless and
sinful, the unholy and profane, those who kill their fathers or
mothers, murderers, the unchaste, practicing homosexuals,
kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is opposed to sound
teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,
with which I have been entrusted. [1 TM 1:3-11]

End Times / Turning
From the Faith / Myths / Devotion |
Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will
turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits
and demonic instructions through the hypocrisy of liars with
branded consciences. Avoid profane and silly myths. Train yourself
for devotion, for, while physical training is of limited value,
devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of
life both for the present and for the future. [1 TM 4:1-2, 7-8]

previous page | top |
The Lord's Patience / Be Prepared / Repentance / New Heaven and
Earth / Distortion of Scripture |
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord
one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one
day. The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard
"delay," but he is patient with you, not wishing that
any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the
day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will
pass away with a mighty roar and the elements will be dissolved by
fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.
Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what sort of
persons ought (you) to be, conducting yourselves in holiness and
devotion, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God,
because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the
elements melted by fire. But according to his promise we await new
heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore,
beloved, since you await these things, be eager to be found
without spot or blemish before him, at peace. And consider the
patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul,
according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you, speaking
of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are
some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable
distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other
scriptures. Therefore, beloved, since you are forewarned, be on
your guard not to be led into the error of the unprincipled and to
fall from your own stability. [2 PT 3:8-17]

New
Heaven & Earth / The Damned |
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and
the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also
saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud
voice from the throne saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with
the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his
people and God himself will always be with them (as their God). He
will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more
death or mourning, wailing or pain, (for) the old order has passed
away." The one who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I
make all things new." Then he said, "Write these words
down, for they are trustworthy and true." He said to me,
"They are accomplished. I (am) the Alpha and the Omega, the
beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give a gift from the
spring of life-giving water. The victor will inherit these gifts,
and I shall be his God, and he will be my son. But as for cowards,
the unfaithful, the depraved, murderers, the unchaste, sorcerers,
idol-worshipers, and deceivers of every sort, their lot is in the
burning pool of fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
[RV 21:1-8]

God's Generosity / We Will Conquer / No One Can Separate Us
From God's Love |
What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be
against us? He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over
for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along
with him? Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is
God who acquits us. Who will condemn? It is Christ (Jesus) who
died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God,
who indeed intercedes for us. What will separate us from the love
of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?... No, in all these things we conquer
overwhelmingly through him who loved us. For I am convinced that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor
depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the
love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. [ROM 8:31-39]

Those Who Create Dissension and Obstacles / Deceitful Teaching
/ Obedience / Being Wise |
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create
dissensions and obstacles, in opposition to the teaching that you
learned; avoid them. For such people do not serve our Lord Christ
but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering speech they
deceive the hearts of the innocent. For while your obedience is
known to all, so that I rejoice over you, I want you to be wise as
to what is good, and simple as to what is evil; then the God of
peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our
Lord Jesus be with you. [ROM 16:17-20]

Obedience of Faith / Call to Be Holy / The Gospel / The
Righteous |
Through him we have received the grace of apostleship, to bring
about the obedience of faith, for the sake of his name, among all
the Gentiles, among whom are you also, who are called to belong to
Jesus Christ; to all the beloved of God in Rome, called to be
holy. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ. For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power
of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first,
and then Greek. For in it is revealed the righteousness of God
from faith to faith; as it is written, "The one who is
righteous by faith will live." [ROM 1:5-7, 16-17]

Obey Leaders |

Judgment of Others / Judgment of God / Sin / Observance of the
Law |
Therefore, you are without excuse, every one of you who passes
judgment. For by the standard by which you judge another you
condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things.
We know that the judgment of God on those who do such things is
true. Do you suppose, then, you who judge those who engage in such
things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape the judgment
of God? Or do you hold his priceless kindness, forbearance, and
patience in low esteem, unaware that the kindness of God would
lead you to repentance? By your stubbornness and impenitent heart,
you are storing up wrath for yourself for the day of wrath and
revelation of the just judgment of God, who will repay everyone
according to his works: eternal life to those who seek glory,
honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works, but
wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey
wickedness. Yes, affliction and distress will come upon every
human being who does evil...But there will be glory, honor, and
peace for everyone who does good...There is no partiality with
God. All who sin outside the law will also perish without
reference to it, and all who sin under the law will be judged in
accordance with it. For it is not those who hear the law who are
just in the sight of God; rather, those who observe the law will
be justified. For when the Gentiles who do not have the law by
nature observe the prescriptions of the law, they are a law for
themselves even though they do not have the law. They show that
the demands of the law are written in their hearts, while their
conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts
accuse or even defend them on the day when, according to my
gospel, God will judge people's hidden works through Christ Jesus.
Now if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of
God and know his will and are able to discern what is important
since you are instructed from the law, and if you are confident
that you are a guide for the blind and a light for those in
darkness, that you are a trainer of the foolish and teacher of the
simple, because in the law you have the formulation of knowledge
and truth - then you who teach another, are you failing to teach
yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who
forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do
you rob temples? You who boast of the law, do you dishonor God by
breaking the law? For, as it is written, "Because of you the
name of God is reviled among the Gentiles." Circumcision, to
be sure, has value if you observe the law; but if you break the
law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. Again, if an
uncircumcised man keeps the precepts of the law, will he not be
considered circumcised? Indeed, those who are physically
uncircumcised but carry out the law will pass judgment on you,
with your written law and circumcision, who break the law. One is
not a Jew outwardly. True circumcision is not outward, in the
flesh...Circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit, not the
letter; his praise is not from human beings but from God. [Taken
from ROM 2:1-29]

Avoid Offending / Offense |

Perseverance in Temptation / Origin of Temptation
/ Sin Brings
Death |
Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he
has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised
to those who love him. No one experiencing temptation should say,
"I am being tempted by God"; for God is not subject to
temptation to evil, and he himself tempts no one. Rather, each
person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
Then desire conceives and brings forth sin, and when sin reaches
maturity it gives birth to death. [JMS 1:12-15]

Distortions of
the Gospel / Origin of the Gospel |
I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking the one who
called you by (the) grace (of Christ) for a different gospel (not
that there is another). But there are some who are disturbing you
and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an
angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the
one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed! As we have
said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a
gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be
accursed! Am I now currying favor with human beings or God? Or am
I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please
people, I would not be a slave of Christ. Now I want you to know,
brothers, that the gospel preached by me is not of human origin.
For I did not receive it from a human being, nor was I taught it,
but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. [GAL 1:6-12]

Owe Nothing / Love One Another |
Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one
who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments,
"You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall
not steal; you shall not covet," and whatever other
commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, (namely)
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no
evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)
"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
