will surely not lose his reward." [MT 10:41-42]

Reliance on
God |
Do not worry about your life, what you will eat (or drink), or
about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food
and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild
flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not
even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If
God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is
thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for
you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say, 'What are we
to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?' All
these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you
need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do
not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil. [Taken from MT 6:25-34]

Remaining
Jesus' Disciples /
Sin / Jesus is God |
Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you
remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free." They
answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never
been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become
free'?" Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not
remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if a
son frees you, then you will truly be free. I know that you are
descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my
word has no room among you. I tell you what I have seen in the
Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the
Father." They answered and said to him, "Our father is
Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's
children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are
trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard
from God; Abraham did not do this. You are doing the works of your
father!" (So) they said to him, "We are not
illegitimate. We have one Father, God." Jesus said to them,
"If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from
God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me. Why do
you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot bear to
hear my word. You belong to your father the devil and you
willingly carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from
the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because
he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the
truth, you do not believe me. Can any of you charge me with sin?
If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever
belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not
listen, because you do not belong to God." The Jews answered
and said to him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a
Samaritan and are possessed?" Jesus answered, "I am not
possessed; I honor my Father, but you dishonor me. I do not seek
my own glory; there is one who seeks it and he is the one who
judges. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never
see death." (So) the Jews said to him, "Now we are sure
that you are possessed. Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you
say, 'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.' Are you
greater than our father Abraham, who died? Or the prophets, who
died? Who do you make yourself out to be?" Jesus answered,
"If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my
Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, 'He is our God.' You do
not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not
know him, I would be like you a liar. But I do know him and I keep
his word. Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it
and was glad. So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty
years old and you have seen Abraham?" Jesus said to
them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I
AM." So they picked up stones to throw at him [JN 8:31-59]

Remaining
Vigilant |
Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants
who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open
immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you,
he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to
wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and
find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants. Be
sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when
the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken
into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect,
the Son of Man will come. [LK 12:35-40]

who were killed when the tower at Siloam fell on them - do you

Resurrection
(MT) |
At the resurrection (people) neither marry nor are given in
marriage but are like the angels in heaven. And concerning the
resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you
by God, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." [MT

Resurrection
/ God of the
Living |
When (people) rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are
given in marriage, but they are like the angels in heaven. As for
the dead being raised, have you not read in the Book of Moses, in
the passage about the bush, how God told him, 'I am the God of
Abraham, (the) God of Isaac, and (the) God of Jacob'? He is not
God of the dead but of the living. [MK 12:25-27]

Resurrection
(LK) |
Jesus said to them, "The children of this age marry and
remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming
age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are
given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they are like
angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones
who will rise. That the dead will rise even Moses made known in
the passage about the bush, when he called 'Lord' the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and he is not God
of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive." [LK
20:34-38]

Return
of Unclean Spirits |
"When an unclean spirit goes out of a person it roams through arid regions searching for rest but finds none. Then it says, 'I will return to my home from which I came.' But upon returning, it finds it empty, swept clean, and put in order. Then it goes and brings back with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they move in and dwell there; and the last condition of that person is worse than the first. Thus it will be with this evil generation."

Revealed
Secrets |
There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor

[LK 12:2-3]

Revenge
/ Generosity |
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a
tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, offer no resistance to one
who is evil. When someone strikes you on (your) right cheek, turn
the other one to him as well. If anyone wants to go to law with
you over your tunic, hand him your cloak as well. Should anyone
press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles.
Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one
who wants to borrow. [MT 5:38-42]

Reward
for Generosity |
Then he said to the host who invited him, "When you hold a
lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or
your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite
you back and you have repayment. Rather, when you hold a banquet,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed
will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will
be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." [LK

Reward
for Personal Sacrifices (MT) |

houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and

The
Rich /
Entering the Kingdom of God |
Jesus looked at him (now sad) and said, "How hard it is
for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! For it is
easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a
rich person to enter the kingdom of God." Those who
heard this said, "Then who can be saved?" And he said,
"What is impossible for human beings is possible for
God." [LK 18:24-27]

The Law /
Righteousness |
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the
prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say
to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter
or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all
things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the
least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be
called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and
teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom
of heaven. I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of
the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of

What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit
his life? What could one give in exchange for his life? [MK
8:35-37] [Note: This passage is traditionally translated as:
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and
whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel shall

He said to (his) disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body

more than clothing. Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap;
they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How

the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father
knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these
other things will be given you besides. Do not be afraid any
longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the
kingdom. Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags

Sermon
on the Mount /
Beatitudes (LK) |
(Jesus) said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for
the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now
hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who
are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when
people hate you, and when they exclude and insult
you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the
Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your
reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated
the prophets in the same way. But woe to you who are
rich, for you have received your consolation. But woe to you
who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you
who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when
all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the
false prophets in this way. "But to you who hear I say,
love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who
curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who
strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from
the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic.
Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what
is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have
them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is
that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do
good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even
sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you
expect repayment, what credit (is) that to you? Even sinners lend
to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your
enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then
your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most
High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be
merciful, just as...your Father is merciful." [Taken from LK

Sin (MT 5) Reminder:
Interpretation and application of Scripture should not be contrary
to the perennial, official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.
Do not take Scripture passages out of context. Do not inflict harm
on yourself or others, break laws, take unsuitable
/ incautious or
inappropriate / drastic actions, or take figurative items
literally. |
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it
away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to
have your whole body thrown into Gehenna. And if your right hand

you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go

Woe to the world because of things that cause sin! Such things

of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell
the church. If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat
him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. Amen, I say to you,
whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever
you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. [MT 18:15-18]

Sin /
Forgiveness |
Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to

guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents,

returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,' you should
forgive him. [Taken from LK 17:1-4]

not be strong enough. After the master of the house has arisen and
locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying,
'Lord, open the door for us.' He will say to you in reply, 'I do
not know where you are from.' And you will say, 'We ate and drank
in your company and you taught in our streets.' Then he will say
to you, 'I do not know where (you) are from. Depart from me, all
you evildoers!' And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth
when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the
kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out. And people will come
from the east and the west and from the north and the south and
will recline at table in the kingdom of God. For behold, some are
last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."

Time
of Tribulation /
False Prophets / Return of Jesus /
Being Watchful |
When you see the desolating abomination standing where he
should not... then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,
(and) a person on a housetop must not go down or enter to get
anything out of his house, and a person in a field must not return
to get his cloak. Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in
those days. Pray that this does not happen in winter. For those
times will have tribulation such as has not been since the
beginning of God's creation until now, nor ever will be. If the
Lord had not shortened those days, no one would be saved; but for
the sake of the elect whom he chose, he did shorten the days. If
anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah! Look, there
he is!' do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will
arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to mislead, if
that were possible, the elect. Be watchful! I have told it all to
you beforehand. But in those days after that
tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will
not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the
sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then
they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great
power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather
(his) elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the
end of the sky. Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its
branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is
near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know
that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation
will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven
and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in
heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man
traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in
charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the
watch. Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the
house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at
cockcrow, or in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you
sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!' [MK
13:14-37]

Treatment
of Children |
See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say
to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my
heavenly Father. [MT 18:10]

Treatment
of Enemies |
You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your
neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your
enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be
children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the
bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the
unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will
you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet
your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans
do the same? [MT 5:43-47]

Trees
Known by Their Fruit |
A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten
tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit.
For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather
grapes from brambles. A good person out of the store of goodness
in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of
evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth
speaks. [LK 6:43-45]

True
Generosity |
When he looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their
offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in
two small coins. He said, "I tell you truly, this poor widow
put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made
offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty,
has offered her whole livelihood." [LK 21:1-4]

Trustworthy
Persons |
The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also
trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very
small matters is also dishonest in great ones. If, therefore, you
are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with
true wealth? If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to
another, who will give you what is yours? [LK 16:10-12]

The Vine |
I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He
takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and
everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are
already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in
me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its
own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you
remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains
in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you
can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown
out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw
them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in me and
my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be
done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much
fruit and become my disciples. [JN 15:1-8]

Wealth |
No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and
love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You
cannot serve God and mammon. [MT 6:24]

What
Defiles a Person (MT) |
It is not what enters one's mouth that defiles that person; but
what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one. But the things
that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile.
For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery,
unchastity, theft, false witness, blasphemy. These are what defile
a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile. [MT
15:11,18-20]

What
Defiles a Person (MK) |
Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;
but the things that come out from within are what defile...Do you
not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside
cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and
passes out into the latrine?...But what comes out of a person,
that is what defiles. From within people, from their hearts, come
evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice,
deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All
these evils come from within and they defile. [Taken from MK 7:15,
18-23]

Punishment
/ What is Demanded of Persons Entrusted With
Much |
That (unfaithful) servant who knew his master's will but did
not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be
beaten severely; and the servant who was ignorant of his master's
will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be
beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted
with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted
with more. [Taken from LK 12:47-48]

What to Fear |
I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the
body but after that can do no more. I shall show you whom to fear.
Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into
Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that one. [LK 12:4-5]

The Word of
God |
The seed is the word of God. Those on the path are the ones who
have heard, but the devil comes and takes away the word from their
hearts that they may not believe and be saved. Those on rocky
ground are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with
joy, but they have no root; they believe only for a time and fall
away in time of trial. As for the seed that fell among thorns,
they are the ones who have heard, but as they go along, they are
choked by the anxieties and riches and pleasures of life, and they
fail to produce mature fruit. But as for the seed that fell on
rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word,
embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through
perseverance. [Taken from LK 8:11-15]

Worshiping
God |
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers
will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father
seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who
worship him must worship in Spirit and truth. [JN 4:23-24]

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)
"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
