Inheriting
Eternal Life |
There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test him and
said, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you
read it?" He said in reply, "You shall love the Lord,
your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your
strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as
yourself." He replied to him, "You have answered
correctly; do this and you will live." [LK 10:25-28] return to

Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave
it to them, saying, "This is my body, which will be given for
you; do this in memory of me." And likewise the cup after
they had eaten, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my
blood, which will be shed for you." LK 22:19-20

Instructions
to Apostles |
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to
you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from
one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome
you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to
them, 'The kingdom of God is at hand for you.' Whatever town you
enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and
say, 'The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we
shake off against you.' Yet know this: the kingdom of God is at
hand. I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day
than for that town. [LK 10:7-12]

Intercession
of Others |
I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth,
so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal
dwellings. [LK 16:9] ["But we are exhorted to make the
poor our friends before God, by relieving them with the riches
which justly indeed belong to us, but are called the mammon of
iniquity, because only the iniquitous man esteems them as riches,
on which he sets his affections; whilst the riches of the virtuous
are wholly celestial and spiritual...By this we see, that the poor
servants of God, whom we have relieved by our alms, may hereafter,
by their intercession, bring our souls to heaven... What a
beautiful thought this! What a consolation to the rich man, when
the term of his mortal existence is approaching, to think he shall
have as many advocates to plead for his admittance into the
eternal mansions of rest, as he has made friends among the poor by
relieving their temporal wants." (DR)]

Builds His Church on St. Peter & Gives Him Authority to Bind and
Loose |
Jesus said to [Peter] in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

End Times
/ Jesus' Coming |
There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring
of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in
anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of
the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs
begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your
redemption is at hand. [LK 21:25-28]

Jesus'
Condemnations |
Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of
every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to
love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the
others. Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in
synagogues and greetings in marketplaces. Woe to you! You are like
unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk...Woe also to you
scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry,
but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them. Woe to
you! You build the memorials of the prophets whom your ancestors
killed. Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the
deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the
building. Therefore, the wisdom of God said, 'I will send to them
prophets and apostles; some of them they will kill and persecute'
in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of
all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, from the
blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who died between the altar
and the temple building. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be
charged with their blood! Woe to you, scholars of the law! You
have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter
and you stopped those trying to enter. [LK 11:42-44, 46-52]

Jesus'
Dominion / Belief in Jesus /
Judgment |
(Jesus said), "Amen, amen, I say to you, a son cannot do
anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for
what he does, his son will do also. For the Father loves his Son
and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show
him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed. For just
as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son
give life to whomever he wishes. Nor does the Father judge anyone,
but he has given all judgment to his Son, so that all may honor
the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the
Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Amen, amen, I say to
you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has
eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed
from death to life. Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming
and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of
God, and those who hear will live. For just as the Father has life
in himself, so also he gave to his Son the possession of life in
himself. And he gave him power to exercise judgment, because he is
the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is
coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and
will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection
of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection
of condemnation. I cannot do anything on my own; I judge as
I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me. But I have testimony greater
than John's. The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father
has sent me. Moreover, the Father who sent me has testified on my
behalf. But you have never heard his voice nor seen his form, and
you do not have his word remaining in you, because you do not
believe in the one whom he has sent. You search the scriptures,
because you think you have eternal life through them; even they
testify on my behalf. But you do not want to come to me to have
life." [Taken from JN 5:19-30, 36-40]

(Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the
Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said

Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins
you retain are retained." [JN 20:21-23]

He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the
gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be
saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs
will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out
demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents
(with their hands), and if they drink any deadly thing, it will
not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will
recover." [MK 16:15-18]

Remaining
Jesus' Disciples / Sin / Jesus is God |
Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you
remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free." They
answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never
been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become
free'?" Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not
remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if a
son frees you, then you will truly be free. I know that you are
descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my
word has no room among you. I tell you what I have seen in the
Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the
Father." They answered and said to him, "Our father is
Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's
children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are
trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard
from God; Abraham did not do this. You are doing the works of your
father!" (So) they said to him, "We are not
illegitimate. We have one Father, God." Jesus said to them,
"If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from
God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me. Why do
you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot bear to
hear my word. You belong to your father the devil and you
willingly carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from
the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because
he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the
truth, you do not believe me. Can any of you charge me with sin?
If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever
belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not
listen, because you do not belong to God." The Jews answered
and said to him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a
Samaritan and are possessed?" Jesus answered, "I am not
possessed; I honor my Father, but you dishonor me. I do not seek
my own glory; there is one who seeks it and he is the one who
judges. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never
see death." (So) the Jews said to him, "Now we are sure
that you are possessed. Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you
say, 'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.' Are you
greater than our father Abraham, who died? Or the prophets, who
died? Who do you make yourself out to be?" Jesus answered,
"If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my
Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, 'He is our God.' You do
not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not
know him, I would be like you a liar. But I do know him and I keep
his word. Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it
and was glad. So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty
years old and you have seen Abraham?" Jesus said to
them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I
AM." So they picked up stones to throw at him [JN 8:31-59]

Jesus
is the Bread of Life / Jesus' Mission
/ Foretelling of the Eucharist |
(Jesus said), "Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that
endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For
on him the Father, God, has set his seal." So they said to
him, "What can we do to accomplish the works of God?"
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God,
that you believe in the one he sent." So they said to him,
"What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?
What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it
is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to
eat.'" So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives
you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which
comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." So they
said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus
said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me
will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
But I told you that although you have seen (me), you do not
believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and
I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from
heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not
lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it (on)
the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who
sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I
shall raise him (on) the last day...No one can come to me unless
the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last
day. It is written in the prophets: 'They shall all be taught by
God.' Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes
to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is
from God; he has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your
ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the
bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not
die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever
eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world." The Jews quarreled
among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us (his)
flesh to eat?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to
you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his
blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and
drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last
day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in
him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of
the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because
of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your
ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will
live forever." Then many of his disciples who were listening
said, "This saying is hard; who can accept it?" Since
Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said
to them, "Does this shock you? It is the spirit that gives
life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to
you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not
believe." Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would
not believe and the one who would betray him. And he said,
"For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me
unless it is granted him by my Father." As a result of this,
many (of) his disciples returned to their former way of life and
no longer accompanied him. Jesus then said to the Twelve, "Do
you also want to leave?" Simon Peter answered him,
"Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal
life. [Taken from JN 6:27-40, 44-58, 60-61, 63-68]

Jesus
is the Good Shepherd |
(Jesus said), "Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter a
sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief
and a robber. But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd
of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear
his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and
the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice. But they
will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because
they do not recognize the voice of strangers." Although Jesus
used this figure of speech, they did not realize what he was
trying to tell them. So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say
to you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came (before me) are
thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am
the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come
in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and
slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and
have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd
lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a
shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and
leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters
them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the
sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay
down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong
to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice,
and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father
loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power
to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have
received from my Father. My sheep hear my voice; I know
them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall
never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My Father, who
has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take
them out of the Father's hand." [JN 10:1-18, 27-29]

is the Son of God (JN 1) |
The next day (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and
said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the
world. He is the one of whom I said, 'A man is coming after me who
ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.' I did not know
him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he
might be made known to Israel." John testified further,
saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky
and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me
to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit
come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy
Spirit. 'Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of
God." [Taken from JN 1:29-34]

Following
Jesus / Jesus is the Way |
(Jesus said), "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in
God; have faith also in me. In my Father's house there are many
dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I
am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so
that where I am you also may be. Where (I) am going you know the
way." Thomas said to him, "Master, we do not know
where you are going; how can we know the way?" Jesus said to
him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will
also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen
him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father,
and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to him,
"Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not
know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can
you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the
Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do
not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his
works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I
say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the
Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in
my name, I will do it. "If you love me, you will keep my
commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you
another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which
the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But
you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I
will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while
the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I
live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in
my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my
commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And
whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him
and reveal myself to him." Judas, not the Iscariot, said to
him, "Master, (then) what happened that you will reveal
yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said
to him, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father
will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with
him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word
you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me." [JN

Jesus'
Message to Jews Who Would Not Accept Him |
I came in the name of my Father, but you do not accept me; yet
if another comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you
believe, when you accept praise from one another and do not seek
the praise that comes from the only God? Do not think that I will
accuse you before the Father: the one who will accuse you is
Moses, in whom you have placed your hope. For if you had believed
Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But
if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my
words? [JN 5:43-47]

the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him

perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son
into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be
saved through him. [JN 3:14-17]

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep."

Jesus' Prayer |
When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven and
said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so
that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over
all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him.
Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true
God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. I glorified you on
earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do. Now
glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you
before the world began. I revealed your name to those whom
you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave
them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that
everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to
me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly
understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you
sent me. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the
ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of
mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been
glorified in them. And now I will no longer be in the world, but
they are in the world, while I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep
them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one
just as we are. When I was with them I protected them in your name
that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost
except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might
be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you. I speak this in the
world so that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your
word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the
world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you
take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil
one. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the
world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you
sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I
consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated
in truth. I pray not only for them, but also for those who
will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be
one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be
in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have
given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we
are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to
perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and
that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your
gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that
they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world
also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you
sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in
them." [JN 17:1-26]

Jesus
Will Cause Divisions |
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of
five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a
father will be divided against his son and a son against his
father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her
mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a
daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. [LK

Jesus'
Words (MT) |
Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on
them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain
fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And
everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on
them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain
fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined. [MT 7:24-27]

John the
Baptist |
(Is John the Baptist a) prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than
a prophet. This is the one about whom scripture
says: 'Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of
you, he will prepare your way before you.' I tell you, among
those born of women, no one is greater than John; yet the least in
the kingdom of God is greater than he. [Taken from LK 7:24,

Coming
of the Son of Man / Judgment |
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the
angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the
nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them
one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the
goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his
left. Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who
are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me
food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you
welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me,
in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him
and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and
welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or
in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply,
'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least
brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on
his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire
prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you
gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a
stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no
clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.' Then
they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not
minister to your needs?' He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do
for me.' And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the
righteous to eternal life. [MT 25:31-46]

Judgment (LK) |
(John the Baptist said), "Even now the ax lies at the root
of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not produce good
fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire...I am baptizing
you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy
to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the
Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in his hand to clear
his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the
chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire." [Taken from LK

Judgment
of Others |
Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you
judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you
measure will be measured out to you. Why do you notice the
splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden
beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me
remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in
your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye
first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your
brother's eye. [MT 7:1-5]

Judgment
of Others / Forgiveness / Generosity |
(Jesus said), "Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning
and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed
together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your
lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be
measured out to you." And he told them a parable, "Can a
blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit?
No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained,
every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the
splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden
beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let
me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice
the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden
beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the
splinter in your brother's eye. [LK 6:37-42]

The
Law / Righteousness |
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the
prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say
to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter
or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all
things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the
least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be
called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and
teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom
of heaven. I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of
the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of
heaven. [MT 5:17-20]

The
Law / The Kingdom of God |
The law and the prophets lasted until John; but from then
on the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and everyone who enters does
so with violence. It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away

invalid. [LK 16:16-17]

Eyes / Light
(MT) |
The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound,
your whole body will be filled with light; but if your eye is bad,
your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is
darkness, how great will the darkness be. [MT 6:22-23]

Eyes / Light
(LK) |
No one who lights a lamp hides it away or places it
(under a bushel basket), but on a lampstand so that those who
enter might see the light. The lamp of the body is your eye. When
your eye is sound, then your whole body is filled with light, but
when it is bad, then your body is in darkness. Take care, then,
that the light in you not become darkness. If your whole body is
full of light, and no part of it is in darkness, then it will be
as full of light as a lamp illuminating you with its
brightness. [LK 11:33-36]

The
Light of the World |
And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because
their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates
the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works
might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the
light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.

Living
Water (JN 4) |
(Jesus said), "Everyone who drinks this (well) water will
be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will
never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring
of water welling up to eternal life." [JN 4:13-14]

Living
Water (JN 7) |
On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and
exclaimed, "Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: 'Rivers of living water
will flow from within him.'" He said this in reference to the
Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive.
There was, of course, no Spirit (given) yet, because Jesus had not
yet been glorified. [Taken from JN 7:37-39]

Love
/ Obeying the Commandments |
As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I
have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. I
have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may
be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love
you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for
one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I
no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his
master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told
you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who
chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear
fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my
name he may give you. This I command you: love one another. [JN
15:9-17]

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)
"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
