pity the sinners who before thee bow. |

Hail,
holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our
hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do
we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of
tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy
towards us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed
Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin
Mary.

converte. Et Jesum benedictum fructum ventris tui, nobis
post hoc exsilium ostende. O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo

The Magnificat
/ Canticle of Our Lady
(From Lk. 1:46-55) |
English |
|
My
soul doth magnify the Lord: And my spirit hath rejoiced in
God my Savior. Because He hath regarded the lowliness of His
handmaid: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall
call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done great
things to me: and holy is His Name. And His mercy is from
generation unto generations, to them that fear Him. He hath
showed might with His arm: He hath scattered the proud in
the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from
their seat, and hath exalted the lowly. He hath filled the
hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty
away. He hath received Israel His servant, being mindful of
His mercy: As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his
seed for ever. |
Magnificat anima mea
Dominum:
Et exsultavit spiritus meus in Deo salutari meo. Quia respexit
humilitatem ancillae suae: ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent omnes
generationes. Quia fecit mihi magna qui potens est: et sanctum
nomen eius. Et misericordia eius a progenie in progenies
timentibus eum. Fecit potentiam in brachio suo: dispersit superbos
mente cordis sui. Deposuit potentes de sede, et exaltavit humiles.
Esurientes implevit bonis: et divites dimisit inanes. Suscepit
Israel puerum suum, recordatus misericordiae suae. Sicut locutus
est ad patres nostros, Abraham et semini eius in saecula.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone
who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I

Prayer to Our Lady After Holy Communion |
O Mary, most holy Virgin Mother, lo, I have
received thy well-beloved Son, Whom thou didst conceive in thy
stainless womb, didst bring forth and suckle, and enfold in thy
sweet embraces. See, humbly and lovingly I give back to thee
the Son Whom it was all rapture and delight for thee to look upon,
I offer Him to be clasped in thy arms, to be loved with all thy
heart, and to be offered up to the Holy Trinity in the supreme
homage of adoration, for thy honor and glory, and for my needs and
those of all mankind. Most loving Mother, I beg thee to obtain for
me forgiveness of all my sins, grace in abundance to serve Him
more faithfully from now onward, and lastly, final perseverance,
so that I may praise Him with thee forever and ever. Amen.

Sorrowful Hail Mary |
Hail Mary, full of sorrows, the Crucified is with
thee; thou art pitiable amongst women, and pitiable is the Fruit of thy

Stabat Mater Dolorosa
Reminder: Wording / capitalization / punctuation
/ etc. may vary |
English |
|
At the Cross her station keeping,
Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
Close to Jesus to the last.
Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,
All His bitter anguish bearing,
Now at length sword had passed.
O how sad and sore distressed
Was that Mother, highly blessed
Of the sole-begotten One!
Christ above in torment hangs,
She beneath beholds the pangs
Of her dying glorious Son.
Is there one who would not weep,
Whelmed in miseries so deep,
Christ's dear Mother to behold?
Can the human heart refrain
From partaking in her pain,
In that Mother's pain untold?
Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled,
She beheld her tender Child,
All with bloody scourges rent.
For the sins of His own nation,
Saw Him hang in desolation,
Till his spirit forth He sent.
O thou Mother! fount of love,
Touch my spirit from above,
Make my heart with thine accord.
Make me feel as thou hast felt;
Make my soul to glow and melt
With the love of Christ my Lord.
Holy Mother, pierce me through!
In my heart each wound renew
Of my Savior crucified.
Let me share with thee His pain,
Who for all my sins was slain,
Who for me in torment died.
Let me mingle tears with thee,
Mourning Him who mourned for me,
All the days that I may live.
By the Cross with thee to stay,
There with thee to weep and pray,
Is all I ask of thee to give.
Virgin of all virgins blest,
Listen to my fond request:
Let me share thy grief divine.
Let me, to my latest breath,
In my body bear the death
Of that dying Son of thine.
Wounded with His every wound,
Steep my soul till it hath swooned
In His very blood away.
Be to me, O Virgin, nigh,
Lest in flames I burn and die,
In His awful Judgment Day.
Christ, when Thou shalt call me hence,
Be Thy Mother my defense,
Be Thy Cross my victory.
While my body here decays,
May my soul Thy goodness praise,
Safe in Paradise with Thee.
Amen.

Thou art all fair, O Mary, The original stain
is not in thee. Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, Thou, the joy of
Israel, Thou, the great honor of our people, Thou, the advocate of
sinners. O Mary, O Mary, Virgin most prudent, Mother most
merciful, Pray for us, Intercede for us with our Lord Jesus
Christ. [Source: Raccolta] O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us
who have recourse to the; O refuge of sinners, Mother of the
dying, forsake us not at the hour of our death; obtain for us the
grace of perfect sorrow, sincere contrition, the pardon and
remission of our sins, a worthy receiving of the holy Viaticum,
and the comfort of the Sacrament of Extreme Unction, in order that
we may appear with greater security before the throne of the just
but merciful Judge, our God and our Redeemer. Amen.
[Source: Raccolta] Kneeling at thy most sacred feet, I venerate
thee, great Queen of Heaven, with the deepest reverence, and I
confess that thou art the Daughter of God, the Father, the Mother
of the divine Word, and the Bride of the Holy Ghost. Thou art full
of grace, virtue and the heavenly gifts; thou art the most pure
temple of the Holy Trinity. Thou art the treasurer and dispenser
of God's mercies. Thy pure heart is full to overflowing with
charity, sweetness and tenderness for us, poor sinners; wherefore
we name thee our Lady of divine Pity. Hence it is with sure
confidence that I present myself before thee, our most loving
Mother, afflicted and straitened on every side, and I beseech thee
to make me feel the love thou hast for me, by granting me..., if
it is in conformity with the will of God and profitable to my
salvation. Ah, I beseech thee, turn thy pure eyes upon me and upon
all who are dear to me. Consider the cruel warfare waged by the
world, the flesh and the devil against our souls, and see how many
are perishing in the strife. Remember, most tender Mother, that we
are thy children, purchased by the Precious Blood of thine
only-begotten Son. Deign to pray for us without ceasing to the
Blessed Trinity, that we may have the grace to be ever victorious
over the devil, the world and all our perverse passions; that
grace whereby the just may sanctify themselves ever more and more,
sinners may be converted, heresies destroyed, unbelievers
enlightened and the Jews brought to the light of faith. Ask this
grace for us, dearest Mother, through the infinite goodness of God
most high, the merits of thy most holy Son, the anxious care
wherewith thou didst wait upon Him, the love with which thou didst
cherish Him, the tears thou didst shed and the sorrows thou didst
undergo during His Passion. Amen. [Source:

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)
"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
