Goals

Fliers may have the following goals...

* helping users avoid distractions while praying the Holy Rosary

* assisting users to better focus on the mysteries

* assisting with meditation/contemplation

* helping users to penetrate more deeply into the events of the Holy Rosary

* helping with the 10/7 Collect plea ("...grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating on these mysteries in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise...")

Although we strongly hope the fliers will be useful, we unfortunately cannot make any guarantees whatsoever regarding any flier.

Available Fliers

The following fliers may be available... (see links below)

* Joyful Mysteries - Selected Points For Meditation (From Holy Scripture)

* Sorrowful Mysteries - Selected Points For Meditation (From Holy Scripture, Traditional Stations of the Cross)

* Glorious Mysteries - Selected Points For Meditation (From Holy Scripture & Other Traditional Sources)

Looking for John Paul II's 'luminous mysteries'? See note below.

Why Are There No 'Luminous Mysteries' Fliers?

Our site focuses on the traditional Rosary (as approved by the Blessed Virgin Mary). The novel 'luminous mysteries' are optional and are NOT required. Furthermore, these nonobligatory mysteries present some issues. For more information on the 'luminous mysteries', please see here.

Will We Add Fliers For 'Luminous Mysteries' in the Future?

Sorry, but no. As indicated above, our site focuses on the traditional Rosary (as approved by the Blessed Virgin Mary), whereas the novel 'luminous mysteries' present some issues. For more information on the 'luminous mysteries', please see here.

Some Things You Should Know About These Fliers

* Use of fliers is subject to our terms of use.

* Fliers are in .pdf file format (which may require Adobe Acrobat reader).

* Unless otherwise specified, fliers may be one page each, black & white.

* To fit all material on pages, text size is necessarily small.

* Items on fliers are not comprehensive and may be in any order.

* Material may be compiled exclusively from traditional sources.

* Each mystery contains a black & white background image. If it is difficult to read the text over the image, you might try adjusting printer settings or perhaps try another printer (if available).

* Fliers are based on the traditional Rosary (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious Mysteries).

* Each flier may contain 10 points for reflection from Scripture (and other sources, if applicable) for each of the 5 mysteries (for a total of 150 points – 15 mysteries on 3 pages). Length of points may vary and some points may not be complete on their own.

* Fliers may be referred to as 'Scriptural Rosary' fliers as roughly 90% of the total points are from Holy Scripture (100% of the Joyful Mystery points are from Holy Scripture).

* To keep fliers as uncluttered as possible, we may have removed quotation marks, references to specific bible passages, source material/author information, etc. [various references may instead be found at the end of each mystery (see 'Ref.' notation)].

* Scripture references may be to individual passage(s) of the bible and may not correspond exactly with quoted passages. Order of references as a whole may approximate order of quoted passages, but references may be in any order. For users' convenience, various references may include both traditional as well as modern numbering.

* Points above/below each other may or may not be directly related to following/preceding point(s).

* For users' convenience, Rosary prayers (including the Fatima prayer) may appear in both English & Latin at the bottom of each flier. We regret that the text is necessarily small.

* Points on fliers may be primarily Scriptural, but they may also contain other material.

* Mystery names, wording of prayers, ordering, Scripture references, and other information may vary.

* Scripture excerpts appearing on fliers may be exclusively based on the Douay Rheims translation.

* We may have made changes to various material, including Scripture passages (e.g. punctuation changes/removal, capitalization changes, adding name/info., adding..., shortening, etc.).

* Scripture passages and other material may be excerpts (with or without notation). They are not necessarily complete and may or may not be in full context. Refer to your (appropriate) Catholic bible for footnotes, explanatory text, and to view items in full context. Also see here for important cautionary statement and other important terms/information regarding Holy Scripture.

* Fliers may/may not be uniform in various respects.

* Items may be only loosely related to indicated mysteries. For example, Scripture from the Annunciation might also appear under the Coronation mystery because the angel at that time announced Jesus' kingdom to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is clearly relevant to Mary's queenship/coronation. Also, scripture from Genesis may be included with the Assumption mystery as it foretells of the future victorious woman.

* Fliers were created as a meditation aid. They are not designed as a scholarly work.

* The Sorrowful mysteries flier has a link to http://www.MyCatholicSource.com/JLW. This page (which may not utilize a traditional/DR translation for some/all quotes) has various quotes that may be useful in explaining Jesus' loud cry, "Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?" It may be helpful to view that link prior to using the flier (click here).

* The Sorrowful mysteries flier makes reference to iStations, which is one of our apps (and there is also a related iStations book).

* Fliers are protected by copyright. Copyright notice must remain on both digital and print versions.

* Fliers are not to be altered (in digital or print or any other version).

* We make no guarantees whatsoever regarding any flier / meditation point / etc.

Note: See above and below for additional information.

Printing Requirements / Recommendations

Requirements may include...

* Printer capable of .25" margins all around

We recommend the following...

* Use high quality print settings (as applicable)

* Adjust settings to fit on one page (as applicable)

* Use high quality/thick paper (if desired)

Also...

* You might consider laminating pages (if desired)

* Alternatively, fliers may be used in their original digital form (i.e. no need to print), as applicable

How To Use Fliers

Please use the fliers in whichever way best enhances your praying of the Holy Rosary. The fliers are flexible and may be used in various appropriate ways.

You might, for example, focus on each of the ten points for the mystery subsequently while praying each of the 10 Hail Mary's for that mystery.

Or, you might choose to read some/all of the points before starting the mystery as a way to foster contemplation on the upcoming mystery.

Or, you might focus on the background images instead of the text.

If you have another good method of using the fliers, please share it! [Note: Please use the 'quick feedback' form here & be sure to tell us which fliers you are referring to. Thank you in advance for any feedback!]

How to Pray the Rosary

Click here for assistance in praying the Holy Rosary.

Note: For additional assistance & for more help using the fliers, try above and below.

Why Pray the Rosary?

Here are a few reasons...

* For centuries, numerous popes, saints, and others have strongly encouraged all to pray the Rosary. And, the Blessed Virgin herself has urged us to pray the Rosary.

* Throughout its history, the Rosary has been considered a powerful (spiritual) weapon against the forces of evil. It has also been associated with countless miracles of all types. The Rosary has been attributed to one of the greatest military upsets in all of history (at Lepanto) as Christians carried rosaries into battle along with their swords and achieved astonishing results.

* The saints have called the Rosary a "ladder to heaven". At least one saint specifically attributes the salvation of his soul to the Rosary.

* "Of all the prayers, the Rosary is the most beautiful and the richest in graces; of all it is the one most pleasing to Mary, the Virgin Most Holy." (Pope St. Pius X)

* Saying the Holy Rosary assists the Holy Souls in Purgatory: "Now, one of the easiest, yet one of the most powerful, means to procure relief for the souls in Purgatory is to say the beads for them with fervor. To say the Rosary for the souls in Purgatory is to offer up to God for their relief all the labors, fatigues, prayers, tears, contempt, sufferings, blood, and death - all the merits of the life of our dear Savior. Next to Mass, no more efficacious offering can be made to God then this for the relief of the souls in Purgatory." (Muller)

* "Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood." (St. Louis de Montfort)

* "Next to the holy sacrifice of the Mass, there is, indeed, nothing more terrifying to [the devil], nor does he bear a more implacable hatred to anything than to the devotion of the Rosary." (Muller)

* "Always pray the rosary." [St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)]

* The power of the rosary is beyond description." (Archbishop Fulton Sheen)

* "How great is the power and mercy of the Blessed Virgin for those who are faithful in the practice of the Rosary! If you wish then, to save your soul, practice the devotion of the Rosary with fervor and perseverance. If you wish to save the souls of those who are near and dear to you, try to introduce this devotion without delay into your family." (Muller)

For more, try the Holy Rosary Topic Page (click here)

"If you want peace in your heart, in your home, in your country, assemble together every night and say the Rosary." (Pope St. Pius X)

"It is impossible to meditate with devotion upon the mysteries of the Rosary and live in a state of sin." (St. John Vianney)

"[E]xperience shows that no sooner do the people commence to practice this devotion that they open their hearts to the largest channel of grace, so as to be flooded with heavenly gifts." (Muller)

"For us nothing can be more effective in winning the Virgin's favor and in meriting the most salutary graces than to surround with the greatest possible honor the mysteries of our redemption in which she not only shared but also took part." (Pope Leo XIII)

"...the more We fix Our thoughts upon the character of the Rosary, the clearer its excellence and power appear to Us. Hence, while Our wish increases that it may flourish, Our hope grows also that through Our recommendation it may come to be more greatly prized, its holy use become more extended and flourish abundantly." (Pope Leo XIII)

"To vocal prayer we must add mental prayer, which enlightens the mind, inflames the heart and disposes the soul to listen to the voice of Wisdom, to savor his delights and possess his treasures. For myself, I know of no better way of establishing the kingdom of God, Eternal Wisdom, than to unite vocal and mental prayer by saying the holy Rosary and meditating on its fifteen mysteries." (St. Louis de Montfort)

"The diadem which the Church thus offers first to the august Sovereign of the world, is rightly composed of the triple crown of these sanctifying mysteries, the causes of her joy, of her sorrow, and of her glory. The joyful mysteries recall the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Birth of Jesus, Mary's Purification, and the Finding of our Lord in the temple. The sorrowful mysteries bring before us the Agony of our blessed Lord, His being scourged, and crowned with thorns, the carrying of the cross, and the Crucifixion. While, in the glorious mysteries, we contemplate the Resurrection and Ascension of our Savior, Pentecost, and the Assumption and Coronation of the Mother of God. Such is Mary's rosary; a new and fruitful vine, which began to blossom at Gabriel's salutation, and whose fragrant garlands form a link between earth and heaven." (Liturgical Year)

"Pray, pray, pray; prayer is the key to the treasures of God. It is the weapon of combat and of victory in every battle for good over evil." (Pope Pius XII)

"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thes. 5:17)

When to Say Each of the Mysteries?

For users' convenience, fliers may contain information about the days of the week for each set of mysteries (near top of flier), namely...

The Joyful Mysteries Are Said On: Mondays, Thursdays, Sundays (From First Sunday In Advent Until Lent)

The Sorrowful Mysteries Are Said On: Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays (In Lent)

The Glorious Mysteries Are Said On: Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays (From Easter Sunday Until Advent)

Also See: Traditional Schedule For a 5 Decade Rosary ('Quick Help' Page)

Note: For specific dates for Easter Sunday, 1st Sunday in Advent, Ash Wednesday, etc. from 2000 A.D. - 2050 A.D., click here (Moveable Feasts Flier). Note that Advent begins on Sunday in November or December (approximately four Sundays before Christmas, 12/25). Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (in February/March). Easter always falls on Sunday (in March/April). Therefore, the Joyful Mysteries are considered on applicable Sundays from Nov./Dec. to Feb./March, the Sorrowful Mysteries are considered on applicable Sundays from Feb./March to March/April, and the Glorious Mysteries are considered on applicable Sundays from March/April to Nov./Dec.

Why Do the Fliers Contain Prayers in Latin?

The fliers include Latin prayers because there are many good reasons to pray the Rosary in Latin – the Church's 'official language' (including fostering unity). For more information, please try here.

Head Coverings: Ladies saying the Rosary should consider wearing a head covering while praying and gentlemen should pray without a head covering as St. Paul instructs in 1 Cor. 11:3-15...

But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and a husband the head of his wife, and God the head of Christ. Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings shame upon his head. But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her head shaved. For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil. A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; nor was man created for woman, but woman for man; for this reason a woman should have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels. Woman is not independent of man or man of woman in the Lord. For just as woman came from man, so man is born of woman; but all things are from God. Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled? Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him, whereas if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because long hair has been given (her) for a covering? [NAB Trans.]

Posture: We encourage those who are able to kneel for an entire Rosary to do so. For all others, please adopt a reverent posture for prayer. In any event, consider having a suitable surface available for the printed (or digital) flier.

Type of Rosary to Use/How to Use: Please feel free to use any appropriate Rosary. You might consider what type of Rosary would be best if you will be using/holding a printed (or digital) flier, and you might also consider whether it would be best to hold the flier or keep it near you on a suitable surface. Use the Rosary and the flier in any safe & suitable manner.

Scapular: Reminder: "Our Lady wants all to wear the Scapular. The Scapular and the Rosary are inseparable." (Sr. Lucy of Fatima)

Possible Future Book: We are considering making available an ebook/paperback book version of the fliers. If you have any interest in purchasing such a book, please let us know. Thank you!

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics

"Suitable For Children Or Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"

+ + +

As many faithful Catholics already know, the majestic Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church – promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious treasure that is the Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"

If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches, crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee, quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs, circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations, phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender, inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
