"I bought an older Catholic publication. It says they called God 'Jehovah'. Does that mean the writer was a convert from the 'Jehovah's Witnesses'? Is this a term Catholics should use?"

"Jehovah" is actually a known mistranslation for God's name (a transliteration error – the proper name of God is Yahweh) that has been in wide use since before the Jehovah's Witnesses were founded. I would not use this term – I'd steer clear from using an erroneous term as His name especially considering that one of the Ten Commandments is dedicated to God's name – but the term may still remain in older literature. Use of the term in an older publication does not mean the author was a convert.
