1. As
stated in the Catechism of St. John Neumann...
Q. What takes
places at the Consecration?
A. By the words
of consecration the priest changes the bread and wine into the true Body and
into the true Blood of Jesus Christ.
2.
Immediately after the consecration of the bread, each member of the laity should
adore the Host. When the priest elevates the consecrated Host, each should
SILENTLY say: "My Lord and My God."
Immediately after the
consecration of the wine, each member of the laity should adore the Precious
Blood. When the priest elevates the chalice, each should SILENTLY say: "Be
mindful, O Lord, of Thy creature, whom Thou hast redeemed by Thy Precious
Blood." (Or: "Be mindful, O Lord, of Thy creature, whom Thou hast
redeemed by Thy Most Precious Blood.")
Note that an
indulgence may apply to the above.
