If I understand you
correctly, you are wanting to compare and contrast the Ten Commandments with the
2 'greatest commandments'. If so, I do not see how they can be 'contrasted' if
you mean comparing differences. They are not 'different' as the greatest
commandments may be said to be a summary of the 10 commandments. For comparing
them, the following is the closest thing I could think of.
The first of the
'greatest commandments'...
You shall love
the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength
...corresponds with
the first tablet...
1. I am the Lord
your God; you shall not have strange gods before me.
2. You shall not
take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to
keep holy the Lord's Day.
And the second of the
'greatest commandments'...
You shall love
your neighbor as yourself
...corresponds with
the second tablet...
4. Honor your
father and your mother.
5. You shall not
kill.
6. You shall not
commit adultery.
7. You shall not
steal.
8. You shall not
bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. You shall not
covet your neighbor's wife.
10. You shall not
covet your neighbor's goods.
It may be helpful to
think that those who carefully observe the 'greatest commandments' will be
likewise be honoring the Ten Commandments and vice versa.
