"A link to support you
through purchases on Amazon.com takes me to a rather bland page on Amazon (e.g.
this shortcut that redirects to Amazon:
http://www.MyCatholicSource.com/ShopAmazon). I don't see how that particular
Amazon page takes me to something to click on which would benefit
MyCatholicSource. And, you are not listed in Amazon's 'search' for charities. It
would help to have your site take me directly to smile.Amazon.com instead."

Regarding the 'bland'
Amazon link, we settled on that page for use as a general starting point because
we found it less likely than some other pages on Amazon.com to contain
offensive/inappropriate images. For example, links to clothes may include images
of immodestly dressed people. As I recall, when we first started linking to that
page it didn't include any images at all (which we liked). In any event, when
someone visits that page using our link and purchases an eligible product, we
should receive a portion of all applicable sales. Although it's not the most
glamorous page to land on, we found it to provide the best balance between
showing something (hopefully) not offensive vs. offering a wide variety of items
to choose from. And again, we do earn 'referral fees' from any applicable items
that people purchase after clicking on the link (although this is limited to a
certain amount of time – perhaps 30 minutes or so, but I'm not entirely certain
of the time period).
not being found in Amazon's list of charities, this is correct. According to
their site, I see that an 'eligible organization' is one that is "qualified
under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code", which we are
not. Also, to be eligible, Amazon's terms do not permit organizations that they
deem "engage in, support, encourage, or promote" what they consider
"intolerance, discrimination or discriminatory practices based
on...religion,...sexual orientation...", so, unfortunately, they may have issues
with tradition minded-Catholic sites such as ours that condemn false
religions/'churches' and maintain the immorality of certain acts (even though
such teachings can be found in Scripture, and even though Amazon sells bibles).
helps. Thank you so much for your support!
Update: We changed the above referenced link to instead go to the Amazon.com home page in February, 2022. While we prefer the previous link for reasons indicated above, Amazon recently began redirecting the link to their home page (WITHOUT our associate's tag), and the old page seems to be currently unavailable. We therefore changed our link to go directly to Amazon's home page (WITH our associate's tag). We apologize if this causes any issues.
