Although I did not
find a specific patron for surgery patients in our Patron Saints Index, I think
some good general choices would include...
* St. Camillus de Lellis - patron of Hospitals, Sickness
(against) [he founded an order to care for the sick & dying]
* St. John of God - patron of sick persons
* St. Luke (evangelist, physician) or Sts. Cosmas & Damian
- patrons of surgeons
But there are quite a
few others too that might be wonderful choices, particularly depending on the
nature of the surgery. For example if the surgery is related to a particular
sickness such as cancer, kidney problems, lung problems, stomach problems, etc,
you may find a patron specific for that condition. For a list, you can visit
the page
here. Select "Medical / Negative Conditions" in the drop down list and press
the submit button. Then scroll down to view.
Also, as I'm sure you
know, it's a very good idea to call a priest for the anointing prior to surgery
since all surgery involves risk. [Note: If you want more information on the
sacrament of Anointing of the Sick/Extreme Unction, please try
