Please know that you
are certainly not a "lost insignificant soul". It seems to me from your writing
that you are a caring and loving person. While we all have challenges to deal
with, we are nevertheless beloved children of God. You mentioned that you have a
disability and that reminds me of something a very wise priest told me. He said
that there are some persons who have the most excellent, in-shape, 'perfect'
bodies – physical giants – yet their souls are badly diseased. A faithful
Catholic should see that in the long run it is much better to have good health
of soul and mind than of body. Furthermore, if we make it to
heaven, our bodies
will be fully restored to perfect health, whereas our souls will remain in the
condition they were in when we died (excepting, of course, the purification of
Purgatory). Our souls are the most important thing we have. Again, I would
encourage you not to think of yourself as being 'alone' – regularly call on your
Father in Heaven, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Trinity, and frequently
invoke your Blessed Mother in Heaven, as well as the angels & saints, and pray
often. And remember that your guardian angel is always with you. You are truly
never alone. Even on earth, there are many who love and care about you as their
brother or sister in Christ, even if they do not actually know you personally.
So even if you might feel alone sometimes, you are not actually alone. And for
what it's worth, I have noticed some disabled persons almost instantly go from
'down in the dumps' to 'smiling & happy' as soon as they shifted their focus
onto other people. I have also noticed that no matter what condition a person
may be in, he or she still has something valuable to offer others (e.g. a
prayer, a wise piece of advice, a comforting word, a friendly smile, a hardship
offered up, etc.). However difficult your situation, remember that you are a
child of God, you have great worth, you are loved, your life has value &
meaning, your patient sufferings will be rewarded, you always have something to
beneficial to offer, and you are never, ever alone. God bless & keep you.
