I'm very sorry to hear of your difficulty, but it sounds like you are a wise parent remembering to pray. Recall that the conversion of the great St. Augustine may be attributed to his mother's (St. Monica's) persevering prayer. So hang in there.

As far as what prayer might be helpful, you might want to consider the following... (click links to view)

* Prayers for petition / assistance

* Prayers for home / family

* Marian prayers

* Prayers for certain times / occasions (e.g. prayer in time of sadness, prayer in time of need)

There is a novena on this page that I particularly like. It is called "urgent need novena" – you can say it once for each of 9 consecutive hours or once for each of 9 consecutive days.

Also important is the Holy Rosary (click here).

You might also consider...

* Invoking a patron saint (e.g. St. Monica, the child's patron, etc.) [Patron Saint index here]

* Using a green scapular (more information here)

* Requesting others' prayers (try here)

* Meeting with a good priest
