"If I ask for you to
pray for me, will you release my name?"

We accept prayer
requests on our site (e.g. try
here), but the prayer requests *do* appear publicly on the site. The
following notation appears on the 'add prayer request' page...
"Important: You
may enter initials for privacy. Do not provide any information which should be
kept private. If requesting prayers for someone other than yourself, please
secure their permission in advance or use initials or their first name only.
Remember that God knows who our prayers are for."
Persons who request
prayers on our site are free to include initials only or put very vague requests
- e.g. "requesting prayers for a special intention" - there is ***no need*** to
include specific details of a prayer request. In fact, we would encourage you to
be cautious about privacy. Also, there are general categories available (e.g.
"Other Special Intention"), and there is ***no need whatsoever*** to include an
e-mail address. And, for 'Catholic affiliation', one can select "Decline to
State". Therefore, individual requestors have a good deal of freedom to make
prayer requests as 'private' as possible while still allowing the prayer
requests to appear publicly.
Despite the above, the
Internet (including forms/e-mail) is inherently insecure so there can never be
any complete, absolute assurance of privacy either online or via e-mail (just
ask NASA & the Department of Defense). Plus, various items are transmitted
automatically (e.g. IP number, etc.). If a matter is sensitive, it may be best
to avoid putting the item anywhere online (or via e-mail), whether on our site
or elsewhere. Please know that we pray for the visitors to our site every day so
even without your specifically requesting prayers on our site, you would already
be included in our prayers.
I hope the above
answers your question.
